New Kapex zero clearance insert?

It's the price of 2 Betterly inserts... If I get time I'll drive out to Woodcraft this weekend to check it out.

40 bucks for an insert? If you have a business, sure (i guess). I made a bunch from maple and can crank out 1 in 5 minutes.

Well, it is $40 for the frame and 1 insert. I think the replaceable inserts are 4 for $10. So after the initial outlay it is only $2.50 per insert. Assuming they are easy to change you could have one for every common angle at a reasonable price.

Well I went to their website and they also offer zero clearance inserts for SawStop & Dewalt table saws.

Specifically regarding the miter saw application this is from the website:

"Miter saw replaceable inserts are made of durable expanded PVC for indoor or outdoor use. The flexible 1/8" PVC inserts allows easy slip-in, slip-out replacement without removing the kerf plate."

If true, that last statement in bold letters would be very interesting. Instantaneously changing inserts.

I was going to purchase a Betterley insert but I think I'll hold off until I look at the Colliflower unit.

Looks to me like the insert slides in/out from the front. Probably fits into a tongue and groove  arrangement in the frame.

Didn't realise that, that's a nice feature!

I bought it and the replacements while in Woodcraft this weekend. I also have betterly. Hoping to give each a workout next week when I have timeoff.  The replaceable inserts look very promising.

I'm very interested in your upcoming findings.

Found this on the web how to orient the insert correctly. It slides out to the back....

I have the insert shown in the above pic. It's the one sold by infinity tools. Unless I am doing something wrong I don't believe you can change the insert without removing the throat plate.

I had one ordered one myself and I agree there is no way to change the insert without unscrewing the holding unit.  [sad]

I confirmed this with the maker, Colliflower.

It took a bit to find the actual manufacturer. They don't even have the Kapex version on their site yet, but here is the Dewalt version:

It looks like it can be slid in and out on the Dewalt version without removing the plate but I suspect the Kapex table design keeps that from being possible.

Good Day!
I bought this plate a couple months ago after reading a post Seth had on after-market items.  I like it fine and have only made about 30 cuts on it as I am a new hobbyist and just started buying tools last fall.  The cuts were good and I have no complaints other than being a little expensive, although that is relative.  The insert resembles a hard foam to me, but is working fine.  I can not slide replacements in without taking the screw out.

Thanks to everyone that has put all of the great information on this sight!  It has helped immensely and I view everyday!

That's interesting because about 5 days ago they didn't even have the Dewalt version on their website. All they showed were the inserts for the table saws.

Do you have the Colliflower insert or maybe the Betterley?
