New Kremlin 10-C18 problem

Bought a new spray rig for my new paint booth and got it put into play this weekend. With what little came in the box, which was a disc with some files on it, I scoured YouTube for any information I might have missed regarding set up. So I mounted the unit.  Hooked up 1/4" air line and all the hoses.  Tightened the fittings and then filled the pump with the provided oil.  I turned on the air valve and primed the unit using solvent.  Sprayed maybe a couple quarts and it seemed fine.  Then to the solvent based undercoater.  Again I made sure the unit was primed without the air cap in place and it was working fine.  And then....it lost prime and ran like mad.  Shit off the air.  Removed cap.  Re-primed.  Long story short this thing is driving me insane.  It sprays beautifully other than the fact it tends to wink at times and loses prime.  Then runs like crazy almost shaking the walls apart.  I'm gonna reach out to Kremlin asap but thought maybe there was something I missed during set up?  Using a 60 gallon compressor (13.5 CFM) so it's not starving for air by any means.  Any suggestions I'm all ears!

Check for leaks on the suction side. Is the hose connection tight? Other than that it could be the lower valve ball is dirty and not sealing. To clean it you need to remove the bottom section of the pump and wash the ball and cage in solvent.
FWIW I have not had much luck getting the ball clean with just flushing when I spray pigmented finish.

I think you should get the Kremlin rep out to look at it.

I can't find any potential leaks.  Everything is snug and its brand new.  Straight out do

Of the box so I can't imagine there's crap in the lower part yet.  But maybe there is. Disappointing to say the least.  I think I'm going to love the set up once it's working correctly.  Thanks for your response

All of them wink at the top and bottom of pump stroke.

I agree with Gerry, get the rep out or call their support staff.

Did Kremlin get back to you or did you fix it yourself? Curious as I am interested in the 10-C18 or 15-C25 Both EOS pumps.

It's either that unit or the Kremlin. I am very happy with the quality and build of the CA Technologies stuff. Have been very happy with all my CA stuff (Bandit, H20 gravity and H20 siphon etc.)
I have heard about problems folks are having with Kremlin and waterbourne. Curious what the issues are.

Tim The H20 from CAT was designed for WB finishes from what the main man at CAT told me at the AWFS last year, one thing was increased hose and passage size and nothing but stainless. The CAT is 14:1 vs 10:1. The price saving is also significant from Jeff vs McFaddens or Richelieu. Hope this helps.

I think the issues with the pump systems is how abrasive WB's are.

I wear out nozzles and tips in about 50 gallons of product. They sound different and the pattern changes slightly I had a few I went to long, got spit'llll when I release the trigger.

I'm considering a Merkur, just can't figure out when to pull the trigger.

Hello I agree Jeff has the best prices for the H2O AAA pump.
I believe the Cat pump is around $800 cheaper then the Kremlin EOS 15-C25 AAA pump and the replacemet parts are significantly  cheaper
A upper seal kit is $210, complete pump rebuild kit is $720 on the Kremlin compared to $32 and $125. Kremlin parts in general are really pricey
All prices are in Canadian$

The Kremlin EOS 15-C25 was recommended for WB products.

I purchased a used 15-C25 wall mount for a good price,  added a Graco SS filter/strainer and a hopper
Been using the CAT 36-411-F (fine finish) tip which fits in the Xcite gun. It has carbide insert in the tip and I really have not noticed any wear after a year

A economical Amazon 5x9 ultrasonic cleaner keeps all those parts nice and shiny, makes cleanup easier

My perfect setup if purchasing new would be a CAT H2O pump, paint hopper and Kremlin Xcite gun

One thing to note when using Kem Aqua and plus is the the recommend pressure setting
The KA plus setting are is significantly lower and might extend the long term pump life

Bruce which ultrasonic cleaner are you using? Just curious on the Excite gun, the small gun from CAT lays down a beautiful finish.

The Cat guns are great but I just prefer the Xcite gun
Purchased the Ultrasonic cleaner on Amazon.ca. I use a 20% solution of Citra Clean (degreaser)
Cleans everything.

I absolutely love the xcite gun. It is amazing, and a thing of beauty.

As [member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] mentioned, the winks on long passes get frustrating. Also, the lack of portability has made their pumps shop based only for us.

Bruce and Scott I haven't had the opportunity to try the Excite gun, just to further the discussion have either of you had the opportunity to use the CA Tech H20 with the Bobcat gun in production.
