Just received my first Festool purchase, a TS55 EQ, CT Midi and two guide rails. Thanks Bob M. for super speedy service. I've been a woodworker / trim carpenter for many years. Since my move across (west to east) last fall resulted in a much smaller shop I had to part with all my big floor machines. Luckily I managed to carve out enough space in the garage to keep all of my hand tools. With the money I got from the sale of the big iron I figured I owed myself some really nice hand tools. Enter Festool. ;D

I can't wait to try these green tools out. Most of my shop is Bosch and Dewalt, so I had to talk with the boys to make sure the new fella's would be welcome. So far so good, although the shelves are full with other tools and nobody has volunteered to take the floor seat yet. ;)

The first project with the new toys er. tools will be a matching set of flanking built-in bookcases for a previous customer who installed a nice stone fireplace in their home. With the loss of my big table saw the TS55 and guide rail should be just the ticket. I'm sure I'll have some noob questions until I get the feel of Festool, so be prepared.

Great forum. I like the international presence. 8)

Welcome to the forum.  Lots of folks here with a lot of knowledge, but I'm not one of them.

Welcome to the forum!  Glad you made the plunge!  It's also great that you had such a positive buying experience.  I think you'll find that a lot of people here deal with small shops, and saving space is one of the selling points of the Festool system.  At least it was for me!  My shop is in the basement of an old house, only about 15'x25' total work area, with duct work hanging in the way in places.  I don't have the space for a cabinet saw, and as much as possible machines need to do double duty.  For example, the plunge saw and MFT combination are great for me because they allow me to do crosscutting and miters, and the MFT also serves as a sanding, routing, and general work surface.

Even with Festool, we often have to keep some yellow or blue tools around!  I've got a couple of DeWalts, some Bosch, Ridgid, and even a couple of Ryobis.  Tell us which tools you keep, the ones that make a nice partner to Festool.  You can post about these other tools in the topic, "What Else is in Your Shop?"  You can jump to that discussion by Clicking Here.

Never worry about asking questions!  All of us had to start somewhere, and none of us knew anything until we experimented, got a little lost, and asked for directions!  The whole idea behind this forum is to help Festool customers get more comfortable with the tools in a shorter time, or better understand all the choices in tools and accessories.  Once you're up and running, you have to tell us what you build, what you have learned, what you're puzzled by, and everything else.  Before long, you are no longer a "new customer."  Then, of course, you are ready to help the next new customer.
