Hi Marcus

I have only just spotted this thread. I built a trestle with a sacrificial top that can be exactly the same height (900mm) as the MFT3 or 19mm less allowing an extension piece from the MFT3 to be supported. I use it as an MFT extension and as a support for long bits of wood being cut on the Kapex.

Take a look at about 13mins 30 secs onwards in this video:

@ Jobsworth  Well, thank you for that welcome! And I would like to add that anyone who has a profile pic with food in it is a friend of mine, especially fish and chips!   [big grin]

I wound up in Festool after having seen what a client of mine had done in his home in the line of some fairly MAJOR renovations. He only had a TS55 and 1400 rail, and some decent money sense that saved him from getting addicted and buying all kinds of Festool gear. I was so impressed, I started considering the prospects of taking more initiative with my own home improvement projects. My dad used to build homes, so it was always in my blood anyhow.

But to get back to the topic at hand, I'm in between jobs at the moment and am working fairly intensively with my system the last number of weeks and have come to realize that my MFT has a lot more potential than simply how it appears out of the box, especially when you consider the benefits of making even a simple table extension like the ones above. I'm definitely going to design my own extension, and the challenge will be to try to make some simple functionality improvements. I like to view these kinds of self assignments like 'Lego' for grown-ups! LOL!!

The MFT3 has many benefits and I am sure that you already know about sawing and using bench dogs. But, the MFT3 can be used as the basis for all sorts of template work. Take a look at my post in this thread

Just spotted a couple of photographs of the trestle which might help.

Hi Peter!

Just wanted to say thank you for posting the link to those YouTube videos you had taken the time to make. The DF 500 is the next thing on my list of must-haves. I can get by without it, but not having it is KILLING me  [wink] It would save me a lot of time and give me more options when working out designs.
I'm busy watching them now, they're not awfully short but they are well thought out and certainly a wealth of information, , so once again, thanks!!
