New Midi I CLEANTEC Mobile Dust

I am a general DIYer. Lots of sanding, routing and I use the mitre saw a lot. I have Makita, Milwaukee and some DeWalt tools. When I buy the Midi will the hose fit all of my power tools?

Also, I do a lot of sanding and have heard good things about the Festool sanders. I need a random orbital to sand furniture. some external paintwork on wood and general DIY work. Which would suit me the best and what's the difference between a RO Sander and the eccentric sander? Apologies for all the ? I just need to get the right machines from the offset.

There is no particular standard to the dust ports between brands of tools, so that's a bit of a gamble. Some might, likely not all, because they are probably different.

As far as sanders, there is a huge difference. There are several factors in play. The "stroke" of the orbit itself varies a bit. This is essentially the difference between large stock removal and fine finish among dual-action type sanders. (those that spin and orbit)
Than there are the geared-rotary type, which only orbit. They are far more aggressive. Some can be switched on-off of this mode, some cannot.
Then there are orbital types that do not spin at all. They are usually square, rectangular, triangular
There is also linear action, which does none of the above, and just moves back and forth in a straight line.
This can be overwhelming, but without special needs, a simple random orbit works for most people. It's all about what you are actually going to do with it.

Yeah, Some of the tools might fit the festool hose end, others won't. You'll have to adapt them yourself. I have a collection of old found/claimed plastic vac parts (essentially plastic tubes) that fit the Festool hose, so that whenever I end up with a tool I need to adapt extraction for I have a piece of tube I can cut, adapt and LX Tape onto the tool . .

As for sanders, I imagine my suggestion would be the ETS EC 125/3.

It's probably the best all around, all-purpose, pleasant to use, sander out there. and (while not advertised) will work with the 150mm pad as well as the 125mm pad it comes with. (Note: the 150 sanders won't take the smaller 125mm pad)

But you should watch some youtube videos on festool sanders and search this forum for threads on the sander models to see the wide variety of options, opinions, requirements, experience of people and their sanding tools and tasks.

Although I tend to use blue tape more often, it can increase the size of the sanders, etc outlet so the Festool hose fits properly.

With Makita you never know. Even Makita itself doesn't know what fits what with dust extraction.

Bosch professional and Festool are for me so far compatible. A Carat dust collection tool for dual 82mm is a very tight fit.

I've modified my Metabo MFE 65 using a heat gun and a piece of 50mm PVC to fit the Festool D36 hose. Metabo seems to have a separate hose type for just the wall chasers.... thx but no thx.

I agree. The ETS EC 125/3 is the latest sander I bought (converted it to 150) and currently the one I use most out of my collection… It’s wonderful to work with.

The Festool 27mm end is a nice interference fit inside a DeWALT DWV9000 that connects to the AirLock port on most recent DeWALt tools.
