Didn't find a post about this recent One Time Tool. Looks to be designed specifically
for tool set up. I'm trying to figure out why it's not red like the majority of their tools.
I guess because it is stainless and not aluminum.

Order deadline is 6/19/17 and it ships on 7/20/17.

The Delve Square was a way more useful tool than this looks to be. Some of the products they choose for OTTs are just weird.

And yes its not red because you cant color stainless steel like the anodizing on aluminum can be died.

Id skip this one and get the Jessem Tool Setting Gauge: LINK

The scale on the broad edge is a nice idea. And wide/thick enough to free stand.

On that Jessem , which looks like a good set up tool, the description says adjustable in 1/16" increments. I wonder if it really means that or if it means the scale is in 1/16" increments.

Either way doesn't make sense. One would certainly want the rule marking to 64th of an inch. I liked that the GB225 has both metric and imperial scales on it. Yes, the Delve Square looks like it's more useful, being able to do more than the GB225. The JessEm gauge would be nice at the router table, and works for setting table saw blade height too. I would get the Delve square is they were still available.

This one would be formidable in a bar fight or for dealing with pesky reporters in Montana.  [laughing]

I purchased the GB175 version (1.75") that they made for Woodcraft many years ago. I keep it with the metal lathe for setups, it is quite handy.

Love the scales on the GB225... [big grin]

Its actually tiny notched teeth in 1/16" increments so you get a positive and highly repeatable ridge to "click" the height gauge into.

I like that idea but the trade off is being limited to 1/16" increments. Generally enough but 1/32 would be better. Though maybe not practical to do in a tool of that design.

Two things -
1)  Finally, a OTT that doesn't require a half-year wait
2)  Wish I could get it without the box (completely useless to me) and pay like $10 less.

Its a "One Time" Tool that they have brought back a couple times. Set up an alert on eBay in the app to watch for one. They pop up every once in a while. I got mine brand new for $35 that way.

If that's what "One Time Tool" means why does it state "retired" then?

Because just like a person, it can change its mind and re-enter the workforce.

They do that with all of them. You never know when or if an OTT will come back, but many do. Its their sales/marketing angle/gimmick.

If you're interested in a one time tool you can sign up on their web site and let them know. They say if there is enough interest then they consider making another run. I'm sure we all recognize that they can't make a dozen or so at a time and still make a profit. There is a bit of time in the machine setup/programming, etc. I have no idea how many of this or that it takes to make it worth doing another run but there is a point where it becomes profitable. Looking at history of the one time tools it seems that popular items make a resurgence every couple years.

It stands to reason that they figured out they could nest this tool into the stainless blanks they were using for production of another OTT, hence the quick turnaround.

Nothing wrong with that as I see it. No use letting offcut material go to waste. We all do the same in our shops don't we.

I wasn't implying that as a bad thing, just as another explanation (in addition to customer requests) that an OTT may un-retire.
