New product CT wings - Video

I only have a handful of images and I don't have one of these with me. So, I had to use the images I had to demonstrate the concept.

Even if you use it like it's shown in the second image, the marks are at 180 degrees from each other. If the fingers are turned to that center mark, they are at 90 degrees.

Furthermore, you could align the portion attached to the wall to your laser line, as shown in that second image and ignore the center marks entirely.

The red arrows represent marks on the CT WINGS (only on the sole).

Love the look of this. I am going to buy on of these when they come out.

I wonder if you could use it to catch dust when drilling into a wall in some way? Peter's bit of foam for the brick test could maybe cut like a wedge with a gap along the top maybe. Just thinking out loud!  [wink]
 
I wonder if you use a splitter and two ct wings if the suction would still be strong enough to hold stuff at a wall?

Pretty sure I addressed that earlier in the thread. I tested it with the splitter and it's not a great solution. I would highly recommend not using a splitter.

    I think the problem with using more than one is that as long as one set is "open" the other set won't suction to the surface because the airflow has another open path. If two sets cold be positioned at the same time then it might work.  Just like when doing regular vacuuming and the nozzle sucks itself tight to something like a carpet. Open the outlet slider on the handle and it comes free because the air has another route to take.

Thank you for the fun and informative review video of the wings. I liked it so much I of course went and bought one. It is so much fun to use. I love it. I have always been fasinated by Vacume cleaners from an early age,  especialy the blow part. I have hence been designing and building inflaterble sculptures the last 30 years.
I really like the dust collecting attacment as well. A god send when drilling over head.
Festool has been doing there best for the drill and screw department this year.

Suction wise you can use as many as you want provided that you block the built in bleeding of all but one ct wing.  They actually should have designed a bleeder tee or single bleeder fitting rather then each ct wing bleeding such a large amount of air.  I know it's to protect the vac motor but you have to at some point let people be responsible for the actions when hooking things up.  There are slots on the ct wings and tabs in the bottom to keep it from bottoming out allowing a large air flow.  A little bit of silicone would seal it up.  So you can use whatever you want, say 5 and seal 4 up and keep one open and it will work fine.  You should just keep the air flow required to keep the vac cool.  If you break it, pay to fix it rather than claim warranty repair.  Those make your own things are ok as long as you don't cause the motor to burn up from poor air flow.

Not sure what you are getting at Giff. The CT Wings gets attached by suction to a wall in order to support something (like a spirit level) whereas the Drilling Dust Nozzle can hold its own weight, and that of the hose, whilst dust from the drilling goes to the extractor. I am pretty sure that one extractor could not support both devices at the same time.

Sorry for the confusion.I bought a Festool wing after seeing your video and it seems excellent….on of many festool tools I have purchased after seeing your videos…and your Kindle book ! I was enquiring about the separate dust nozzle that was mentioned on this post as to whether or not it can be used with any make of drill, still with the Festool extractor, but not at the same time as the wing ! ;) Thanks Geoff

Yes, you can use it with any drill as long as in your heart you know that one day you will replace them all with Festool drills !
