Judging by the picture of the radio, it will be in mono. That just doesn't cut it with me.

Clev,

I'm not an electronics guys, whats MONO and why is it that big of a deal?  It seems to me that if you are listing to the radio on a jobsite, the quality of the sound is the last thing I'm conerned about but I know i'm happy just to have something to listen to and knowing it's not going to stop working after a while.

You are right, it shouldn't be a big deal... but compared to a dewalt or bosch radio, it's pretty lame and expensive...

In regards to the new pad for the sanders.  We talked about those in class yesterday.  Yes, the pads are compatible with existing machines and abrasives.  However, you will not get any benefit of the new pads without the new paper.  Also not available in all sizes.

Peter

The sanding pads and abrasives are only in 6" dia only for the multi-jetstream system

This sort of shows your age, you grew up with surround sound home entertainment systems so you have no idea what mono is. Before the 80s most TVs and radios were mono, meaning they had one speaker since technology didn't allow for stereo sound (left and right channels). Mono, one speaker, no directional sound. Stereo, two speakers, sound from left and right directions. Surround sound, five or more speakers, sound from all directions.

I'm only a decade or so older than you but I remember the old mono TVs and radios. I didn't bother with a stereo TV until some time in the late 90s.

how did you find that?

I originally found it on an online toolshop over a year ago. This radio is sold very widely here under a lot of different brands and names. I could supply you with dozens of links. It's best known under the name 'Lunchbox Radio'.

Wow
Slap on a Festool livery and double the price :o :o

Kinda  reminds me of the Cadillac Cimmeron  ::)

What about this, 1400 mm rail and new end stop (for spacing the holes) for the LR32 hole drilling system. Someone that can read German might be able to give us a little more info since the Google translation isn't very good.

Interesting - I have discussed selling cut down FS 1080/2 LR32's with my favorite dealer ;).  Trim them to make the proper 32 spacing add a label alerting  "Fit to this end" and "Extension Rail"  this way if / when you needed a longer rail add extensions to the 42" you already have,  rather than buying the 95"  Add in a "processing charge" and the end user would still save $$$ and Festool USA would sell more rails as very few folks are willing to pull the trigger on a single purpose rail ( FS 2424/2-LR 32 is too short to use as a long rip rail)  As a bonus: the system would be easier to transport

It's been a few months.  Any word on whether we will see the new LR32 rail and connector this coming year?  It will help me take the plunge and purchase the LR32 system.  I don't want to purchase the longer rail for bookcases bigger than the 1080 rail.

The 1400mm LR32 is available in the Netherlands (got one last week), but only Shane can say whether you can have one anytime soon as well  [tongue] Then again, this is not an electric appliance needing certification or something that needs to be imperialised, so who knows?

No, I got a 2nd hand LR32 set (with the original end stops) from the Dutch equivalent of craigslist. It was without a rail, so I got the new 1400mm rail with holes to replace the 1400mm rail that came with my TS55.

So the new LR kits come with the upgraded end stops?  If so, I really want them to introduce the new rail and end stops this coming year.
