Hi,

There is a tool dealer in my local area that has a small Festool display.  None of their products have prices marked.  There was a 6 drawer Sortainer there, and I enquired how much it was.  They advised me it was $ 55.00  Needless to say it is now added to my Systainer stack.

Your win… his loss.

I like stores that show their prices as it gives me an immediate indication as to a potential purchase or not.  If i then have a question and i like to enquire about it, i ask for help.
But it also helps Staff of those stores keep an accurate and quick reference to pricing in the store, they have a lot of product to remember and having to go back and forth to check pricing gets old for a customer.

They really should only need to go back check pricing if they are offering you a better deal and need to calculate what they can offer.

This is one ofmy pet hates in tool shops. It is really anoying when you have to ask the price of basic items.
It also makes you look tight when you say thats very dear or say 'no your ok'

Also when they don't showing pricing then pricing can fluctuate depending on the person your talking to if they are looking at distributor pricing....sometimes you can make a good deal on something if you have two different employees giving you two different pricing....sometimes it can be great if you have more employees giving you different pricing....really effective in the bicycle parts when I work on bicycles.

Agreed, I don't trust a shop that doesn't post its prices.  I'll spent $5k at a shop that has posted prices that are 10% higher than normal before I'll spend $1k at a shop where I have to ask the price of 10 different items and keep them sorted in my head.

No offense, but it sounds like you knew the item was mispriced.  It was to your advantage, but I think in the long run it may hurt your relationship with that dealer (if it matters to you).

Fair Comment.

Truthfully, I never saw a systainer before.  I buy all my Festools at Lee Valley, and they don't carry the Systainers.  I know the price of all of Lee Valley's Festool prodoucts.  At the price charged, I thought it was a good value and bought it.

I was surprised when I looked up the price online.  What can I say.
