New style hose for Festool Duct Collectors

By fighting with it do you mean it is so stiff it causes problems?
If so you can get the non-anti-static Festool hose that is grey colored as it is much more flexible.
Do you mean the connector ends cause trouble attaching to your tools?
Do you mean the ribbed outer catches on edges when moving the hose? You can add a sleeve over the hose to fix that.
I have no experience with the new hose design but understand it has a smoother inside surface for better air flow and a smooth outer covering. Only you can judge if the price is acceptable.

If you mean the old hose has some memory to it and feels a bit rigid, that’s a by product of these anti static hoses. But the new hoses improve upon both significantly. The hose has almost no memory and is much more flexible. I like them. But, the cost to buy a new hose vs selling the extractor and getting a newer model with the Bluetooth connectivity and newer hose is something to consider (especially if you were contemplating a new tool purchase that gets you a 10% discount from the extractor). I just did this, the net cost to get a new one was $150. The hose by itself was $160.
The new hose is waaaay better! Much more flexible, and almost no memory. It will do curves in multiple directions and just stay the way you place it. Less likely to catch on things too due to no outside ribs.

I didn't have to force it or hold it in any of these pictures. It had been in the hose garage for at least a week with over night temps around 45F degrees. And temp during the pics was about 50F degrees. And it went right back into the hose garage with no trouble.

Seth is absolutely right - the new style hose is brilliant and far better than anything that went before. I will try and replace some of my hoses over the next 2 years but cannot afford to do them all.
Anyone buying a new extractor or setting up shop for the first time will benefit from this huge advance.
The other (slightly off topic) thing is the great advantage having at least one extractor with Bluetooth capability. It makes workshop clean-ups and battery tool operation much easier.

The other significant improvement in the new hoses is the ability to connect the hoses together without the need for any adapters. The large end of the new hose is designed to accept the tool end of any of the other hoses. This allows much. greater range from the extractor such as when operating at the top of a ladder!
I agree that the new hose is much better than the old. No more catching ribs on the edge of my table or other objects.
I'm a little disappointed that the wrap on mine is fraying in a couple spots already. I've only had the new MIDI for about 6 weeks and have 10-12 hours of use.
Makes me wonder about longevity.

We have the new style hose at work, but I have an old hose at home. I almost pulled the trigger on a new hose, but ran across a couple of threads here talking about sleeving older hoses. I ordered some braided sleeve and did my hose over the weekend and couldn't be more pleased with it. Slides over the guide rail effortlessly now...maybe even smoother than the new hose.

The same outfit sells heat shrink tube, so I was able to get everything from one source with one transaction.
For those reluctant to spend the money for new hose, I can highly recommend sleeving your old one.
