New TXS drill

Warren,

That little drill dust collector is a great little tool . Used it Saturday on a job and it got every bit of dust. I was worried you wouldn't be able to see exactly where you're drilling through the hole but it's easy to see.

Well as you asked Peter.......

Wait a minute, there is someone at the door, and a big Mercedes parked outside? I'll be back in a minute.

Knock, Knock......... [wink]

Warren, quick - run for it. Get out of Woking now - they have rumbled you.

Forget about the CXS - save yourself. Don't worry about the FOG, we'll get by - somehow.

Hang on a minute - you said it was a Mercedes? You will be safe as houses - Festool guys drive VWs. Its the Maffel lots in the Mercs.

You better still run for it Warren.

For those of you that don't know, this was an excerpt from Peter's new novel titled, "FOG".  Sounds intriguing Peter.  Looking forward to the movie.

I'm okay, it was the chinese takeaway delivery, I live in a 'nice' area, they all drive Mercs. ;-)

Now as I was about to say......

If your fast food delivery is by Mercedes it sounds as though you live in Mayfair !

(for the non UK folks - Mayfair is the smartest property on a Monopoly board and we think Warren lives there)

Peter

It didn't even occur to me that you guys in the UK would have different names on the board. BTW, it's the equivalent of Boardwalk in the US if anyone else was wondering.

And 'smartest' means 'fanciest' or 'ritziest'.

In the USA, 'smartest' usually refers to the most intelligent person in a group - i.e., somebody other than me.

[wink]

I was considering a cxs for light use in kitchens ect . now I will wait for the txs.
I would rather the t handle over the  handle. it is probably the reason I never bought a cxs

At the risk of sustaining this thread’s derailment, the original setting for Monopoly was Atlantic City wasn’t it?
Is that where Boardwalk is?
It does sound more like the seafront with the amusement arcades than the upscale part of town though…

When I was student we tried playing ‘two town’ Monopoly, with a UK set and a US or European set used together, with the ‘Free Parking’ for the two boards overlapped, moving the pieces around in a figure-of-eight, and issuing double the amount of money. Someone tried it to complicate it further by using two different currencies and having exchange rates (adjusted periodically - by what means, I don’t recall). Unsurprisingly, I don’t think we ever finished a game…

‘Smart’ in the UK is used in several senses - clever/shrewd and clean/tidy/well-presented (and also in the sense of stinging, like lemon juice on a cut or something acrid hurting your eyes).

re the new TSX:
Does the CSX polarize opinion so much that an alternative is needed?
If the batteries were compatible with the larger ’T’ models I could see the rationale, but I’d have thought the lovely balance of the CSX would be lost by having even the new light batt hanging on the end of the handle.

I’m very pleased with my CSX, although having only recently got it, I’m a little sore that the new ones have higher A/Hr battery! Mind you, the battery life seems quite impressive for its size anyway.
I’d been planning to get the larger chuck for it as well (so I guess I lucked out on that upgrade too!).
I’m assuming the 10mm (or even 13mm) Jacobs chucks that are available as accessories will fit the CSX?

My primary use for it will be as a drill (rather than screwdriver), often in aluminium (and sometimes in light-gauge steel); haven’t had a chance to give it a real workout yet though.
I’d never really had much of a call for a powered screwdriver, but having used the CSX a bit on repairing and revising a few kitchen cabinets, it was such a delight to use I’m finally seeing why everybody loves them.

Incidentally, the CSX stands up quite nicely, although with the battery being so light it is a little easier to knock over.

I will resist telling the complete story of my visit - unless I get into the Christmas spirit...

Yes, Boardwalk is in Atlantic city the original setting of the game. There are lots of casinos there which were great fun and we managed to find where we parked the car in the early hours. The police had loaded pump action shotguns - pheasant probably.

The only presentable bit for this forum....

The Canadian military had booked accommodation for myself and my boss - a twin room at a local hotel. We checked in and were given those plastic key cards and off we went to our room which, for sake of argument, was room 112. I opened the door and we walked in to see a double bed - no way we both said and then we saw the lady's clothing at the end of the bed and heard the girl in the shower....

Big mistake at the desk - we should have been in 121 - a twin room.

Please stop these nonsense, it has nothing to do with news about the TXS drill.

I just don't see a lot of thought put into this TXS. I mean obviously people are paid to design these tools so plenty of thought is put into them but I feel like the TXS gives me no reason to buy it. I'm much more interested in selling my current CXS kit and buying the updated version of the CXS.
