Newbie question

I have an opportunity to purchase the VS600 GE dovetail jig for $300.  The seller claims that this unit once sold for $800.  It comes with three plates but I notice that all measurements are in metric.  This unit in the pictures posted looks virtually unused as a lot of the parts and the owners manual are still in the plastic bags.  My questions are  1) is this a great price? and 2) will a router like a porter-cable or other brand work with this jig?  Thanks for your time, Hal
