Hey guys I have been contemplating purchasing a festool cart for my alarm / networking gear.  I finally pulled the trigger and initially I was underwhelmed.  The issue I had was the dolly I purchased for this wasn't made of metal as it had appeared it is plastic.  It looked like extruded aluminum but isn't.  The other issue I had was that the systainers don't lock it.  I used an adjustable belt which I thought was a odd and not so hot way of locking these in.  I would have thought there was a much better way to lock the systainers to the back handle. 

Also I discovered with this purchase that the sortainers can't stack on top of the systainers.  This is kinda odd to me as well.  Are my expectations too high or am I missing something?  Again I haven't been working with the organizer yet so it could be great for all I know?

Although it is plastic i have found it to be nice and strong for site use so far. Even off the sysroll  sortainers always have to be at the bottom of the stack to be lockable to the systainer above it - if it's a newer T lock systainer. If it is the classic systainer then the sortainer can be anywhere within the stack.

I thought it was stupid that the sortainers are all older style.  but they have drawers so being at the bottom isn't too much trouble.
I hope you find an arrangement that is suitable.  I have twice as much loaded in my truck as ever,but i have more room than before because the system  works.

Yeah I was surprised by this.  I really like the Large drawer the best which is only available in the 4 drawer unit.  Here is a question: could I find another medium drawer and pull the two small ones and put two medium and one large in a 4 sortainer?

Also does someone sell just the drawers somewhere?

I think you can do that with the drawers as i have just looked at mine and it has grooves for the drawers to run in. They are equally spaced and as the medium drawer is twice the size of the small ones they will fit. Try a dealer or the EKAT system for a medium drawer  [wink]

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

      Yes, the small and medium drawers are modular and can be swapped around in any two for one configuration. The large drawer is also available in a unit the same height as a Sys - IV. It has two large drawers and a single row for sm / med. drawers at the top.

      The drawer units (Sortainers) have not been redesigned since they were made to go along with the Classic Systainers. But when the T-Locs were designed it was made possible to attach them by incorporating the proper tabs to connect Classics to the bottom.  Since drawer units usually end up in the bottom of stacks anyway it is usually not too big a deal. Being able to stack them either way would be nice though.  Maybe a Sortainer redesign will happen someday?

Here is my next question: I have a large stack now of sortainers topped by a systainer.  The thing I noticed after planning in my head is that you can't put a systainer inbetween sortainers?  How is this possible.  Do I have an older version?  I saw some images of systainers with the locking clips on the front and sides?

Ok I now comprehend how these systainers connect.  It wasn't clear to me that the latching methodology is very different than the sortainers.
