Currently have a Festool OF1400.  Looking for a smaller router for edge work, trimming edge banding, and possibly some dado's and rabbets for cabinet work.  Would the OF1010 or MFK 700 be better?

i really like the 1010 on a rail for rabbets and dados. does the hardwood edge banding as well

not sure if the mkf700 goes on a rail, i think its just for edges and not much else

MFK can do all of what you describe, but you need small length bits due to limited height so you do not stress the motor. Excels at trimming banding and good for small profiles on edge.

1010 can handle all of what you want with accessories. Not as convenient trimming edge banding as the MFK. Can cut deeper grooves and all edge profiles.

I would go for the MFK700.

I’ve been using an OF1010 for years and just added an MFK700. Game changer!

The MFK is just so much easier to balance and so quick and easy to set up exactly how you like it.
It’s game are edges and groves near edges.

But since you already have a 1400, you are covered for everything else...

Looks like the MFK is a heavy favorite.  Since the MFK uses short bits.  Can other brands other than Festool bits be used?
