Hmm, I have some twenty-twentyfive odd tools fitted with plug it and have used them extensively for somewhat twelve to thirteen years now. I have had ONE plug it connector that has failed. And ONE power cable that has gone bad. Long before the Vecturo I fitted my Supercut with a plug it cable and it has seen plenty of hard working hours and zero problems. Replaced it a year ago with a new Supercut because the machine itself was a little tatty and coals had been replaced two times. Plug it was fine and transferred to the newer model.
Comparing that to say, Mirka connectors on the sanders, the Mirka Deros has had three replacement cords because the connector socket has worn out to the point of failure. On a stationary machine always in the paint shop.
I bought a Milwaukee Sawzall sabre/demolition saw that I have used the heck out of. Replaced the Milwaukee quick lok with a plug it and have flattened two whole houses with it plus various other demolition tasks. A month ago the Sawzall did give up the ghost to the point of being to costly to repair. It virtually blew up internally. That's how hard I worked it. The Plug it _never failed_ even though the saw has been hoisted in the plug it, tossed around, buried in debris and knocked around like a punching bag.
I am not saying that the plug it connectors are fail safe - they are not - but the convenience with seven powertools on site and maybe just two powercords (one spare - or one hooked to a vac) is simply too brilliant not to take advantage of. The worst thing that has happened is arriving on site with NO cord. [big grin] Since that mind slip there is always a spare in the car...
I do hook up the Supercut to a vac occasionally - when cutting into plaster or otherwise indoors I often run the vac so I don't get plaster dust thrown around. It is easy lining up the nozzle while working the Supercut/Vecturo and it is effective. It is not an issue for those times I need to use a vac. I rather not have a vac attachment as I think it is more like a jigsaw - a hooked up vac doesn't help that much and working a free nozzle at the cutting point is more effective should it be needed. I don't use the Supercut as a sander so don't need that vac suction channel/attachment.
I would not want my Fein without a plug it. I would love to have a 18V Vecturo though.
Also - don't forget that the shape of the brand new batteries for the 18V sanders lend themselves well for a Vecturo 18V. Remember where you read it first.
