I found this little gem and had to have it ...

http://www.plano.se/GB/engelska.html

The one I grabbed is the 300mm variant.

I've been wiggling the thing non stop to see if it'll develop any slop, but it seems to be pretty good. Well made too.

I like it, how do I get one?

Leave Canada?

Not sure on your side of the pond. It was a browse and grab for me. I've seen them on ebay, but the seem to be as much again in price for delivery.

If it's the sort of thing you'd like, I'm betting you'll be satisfied.

Kev.

I just bought a similar one form Lee Valley - Made in Sweden, excellent quality but it doesn't have as many stops. If you search "folding Square" you'll find them. They come in 6 or 10 inch and are $28 or $34 depending on size

You guys should know that the engraving will disappear over time  [mad].
It holds the angle well and I use mine a lot, but the engraving wore off quickly on both.
I got one of them replaced but when the other started fading I decided just to use them as they are and use my Starrett and other squares for marking critical stuff.

It does indeed! My Hultafors Quattro which looks a little bit like the Lee Valley thing lost the engraving in less than 6 month.
And lost the angle as well. I'm not even a pro using it every day.  Im just a hobbyist treating my tools with care! [mad]

So I've gone back to a traditional one.

Kind regards
Henrik

I've had the same Hultafors for the past 7 years, carrying it around in my tool box/work pants etc.
It's still readable, trustable and reasonably square. In the shop I use it often for layout. Great for timberframe layout.
When framing or cutting with a circular saw other than a trachsaw, I use a Speedsquare.
At least in N.Europe, Speedsquares are not common (strange?) Everyone who has seen mine in use in Norway/Sweden has wanted one.

Hultafors square hold the etching/markings better than Nobex. Mine is still fine. Nobex holds the angle better over time though.
Time for someone to release a Hultex I guess...

Speed squares are not very common in Sweden. I don't think there are too many people using circ saws for cutting studs over here, most use a mitre saw/saw stand.
I think I have one somewhere, but I have very limited use for it myself.

Is Your Speedsquare a Swanson? I haven't seen a Metric, but I haven't looked.
I have cast aluminum models, one with adj/lockable angles 0-90° settings. The fiber-plast whatever models explode when you drop them in cold weather...not good in The North.
Are you sure we're talking about the same square?
