I picked up one of these at PaulB Hardware in Pennsylvania last week. Looked interesting and figured, for $30, it couldn't hurt, and if it worked as a rail square - a steal!
Got to try it a little today on my 1400 rail. The fit is tight. Real tight. Like I can't get it seated fully tight, but I'm afraid to hammer on it because I might damage the rail, tight. The unit fits into the underside channel and has expanded track to really secure and center itself.
I was only cutting 18mm plywood that's 300mm across. To check, I measured and marked both ends and then dropped the rail and square to see just how accurate it is. Surprisingly, it's pretty much accurate (presuming your edges are square - a couple of mine weren't) to the measured marks that I made. I'm fairly pleased with the Trax90.
Is it the quality equivalent of the TSO, Benchdogs or Fonson squares? Certainly not. But for short cuts? Based on today, I wouldn't hesitate. And it's certainly a bit more pocket-friendly than the others.
BTW, I did take photos to show the fit but I'm still at a loss on getting this site to cooperate with either my iPhone or Mac. I tried a couple of times and then just gave up. Even in the early-2000s and before, I don't remember BBS sites being this difficult to load images.
