[member=60461]Bob D.[/member] Thanks so much. I’ve given up on the Voyager and actually think this Viking is better suited for my garage shop. My current old floor standing DP has a 2-3/4” post.

Curious if anybody has bolted their Viking to their mobile cart and if so what size bolts and washers?

I don't have a benchtop Viking, but I do have a benchtop drill press and I did bolt it to the stand it rests on. Mine is on a stand not a mobile cart.

For a cart no question I would definitely secure the DP to the cart. As for fastener size take a hint from whatever the bolt hole size is in the base. So maybe for a 10mm hole use an 8mm fastener. I would think four, 5/16" (M8) bolts should be sufficient.

Would anyone with a Nova Viking benchtop model be able to tell me the the dimension from the surface the drill base sits on (the benchtop), to the adjustable table when it is all the way lowered?

I am working on a stand, and want to make sure I can clear a few other tools that are adjacent.

Thanks!

On mine it's 312mm from the bottom of the base to the top of the table.

I love my Viking, it's a fantastic machine!

This is perfect, thank you so much! It won't quite clear the dimension I was hoping, but I will be able to raise it to provide clearance for the adjacent miter station for longer boards. I also realized after I asked, that if I plan on mounting a table and fence, it would have needed to be even lower, and I am not that keen on that.

The only detractor for me is the clearance from the chuck to the top of the table, it's around 275mm which makes it awkward when using long bits or forstners. As there's so much clearance under the table when it's in the lowest position, I'd plan for some kind of bench extension or mod to allow secure clamping to the base or bench so the table can be swung out of the way to do longer stuff or deeper boring.
