Spring is approaching and my wife is lining up my projects.  We're removing a never used trash masher and I'm going to have to match the a new cabinet door to the solid Oak cabinets we have in our kitchen.  I've never done any interior woodworking so this will be a new experience.  Any suggestions?

You will have to determine what kind of oak it is and the type of stain or finish on it. Next, the style needs copying. Is it raised panel, flat panel, slab, shaker style? Are you comfortable making this yourself?
On the plus side, you may need a tracksaw, mft, kapex, router, cms router table and sander(s) to complete the job. [smile]
Good luck

What kind of oak and finish is going to be my challenge.  Looks like a flat panel to me but I have no idea what a Slab would be.  I do have the Festool setup and a old router so tool wise I'm good.

Not sure how to do this but I'll try and see if it works.  My wife has little confidence in my "woodworking" abilities so I'd like to surprise her with my being able to duplicate this but I have no clue where to start.

For some reason I couldn't get it right side up from my computer.  But you get the idea.  They've held up well for 30 yrs so duplicating that finish and color to last another 30 will be my challenge.  Of course at my age I probably won't need to worry about it.

They are going on 31 years old. There is no edge banding but I'll get a picture of the end of the door.

Plane sawn red oak, either Zar Golden Oak or Salem Maple should match the color. Looks like a satin finish on the higher end of the black glass reflective scale or the very low end of the semi-gloss BGR scale.

Some more pictures of cabinet fronts and the end of one of them.  You guys are sure a big help. Thanks.  LOL...oh and that's the floor I have to refinish so I have a reason to purchase a Sawstop!!

I may have a coupled of those handles from a long ago project you can have---if I can find them. Let me know if I need to hunt them down.

From the new pictures, it is Golden Oak.

Thank you for the offer Tjbnwi.  I may need to call on you for some help.  Yes Paul those are the cabinets my wife wants to have "freshened up".  To me they look fine but I don't have a trained eye so I'm not the best resource.  I will say everytime we go look at cabinets these look as good or better than some of the ones we've seen.  The guys who were going to refinish them seemed to feel there were only a couple of spots by the sink that were noticeable.
