OBSOLETE - Test post from iPhone in a roundabout way

I can’t post pics directly from my iPhone photos file but I might have found a simple workaround.

1. Select photo in Photos you want to post
2. Press the arrow in box icon to send the photo to someone and send it to your own email
3. Open the email and long press the photo (if using an iPhone or iPad) then choose “add to photos”
4. Check Photos to see that the copy has been added to the end of your Photos file

Probably the biggest benefit to doing the above is that the new version of the pho’s will be about 1/7th the size of the original. Check the metadata. It is then an appropriate size for postin in the FOG.

5. Press the Picture icon among the tool icons in the Post Composition window in FOG
6. Click the Attachments arrow below the text window
7. Click the Choose file button and select Photo library
8. Find the photo and select Use
9. Choose how you want the pic to appear in the post (in this test I’m using “inline full-size image”)

Well, it turned out to be an “end of post clickable image” instead but at least it got here.

It looks like a lot of steps but it’s easy to do .

This no longer works for me. Can’t get the menu in gmail that allows saving the photo. And in Apple Mail the saved image is still incompatible for direct use in FOG.

Looks like I’ll have to download a resizing app. Might turn out to be easier anyway.

Take a good look at darktable (yes, all lower case) (https://www.darktable.org/) for photo processing.  It's free, exceptionally well done, and allows down-sizing at the time of export.  I use it quite a bit and prefer it to LightRoom.  The down-side is that it has a steep learning curve.  That said, there are some excellent videos on YouTube done by Bruce Williams (no relation).  PM me if you have questions.  [smile]

Here’s what works for me on iOS 16.3 and it worked on earlier versions as well

Open a reply or start box

Expand the attachments option underneath

Touch the choose file option

Touch photo library option on the call box

Touch a photo

at the bottom of this choose photo box it says

Cancel    actual size  Choose

Touch actual size

A pop up appears with 4 options

Small.  Medium. Large. Actual size

Touch your choice then touch choose.

If the photo has been edited either on the phone or elsewhere sometimes actual size is the only option available but I haven’t had a problem with just photos shot on the phone unedited.

Thanks Ron! I never took notice of that size option at the bottom of the photo.
Or if I did just assumed it was informative rather than actionable.

Hey Ron, that seems like a nice option but I need to begin with the basics...what's a Reply or Start Box?  [embarassed]  [embarassed]  [embarassed]
