OF 2200 Router: Member Feedback

Per,
How does the 2200 compare to the 2000?  I bought the 2000 OF last year & have been very impressed with it's power.  Does the 2200 really offer that much more performance for the price increase?

I've never played with the OF 2000 and know the OF2200 has MMC feedback so it will only draw the power it requires to complete a task.

The OF 2200 is a pretty comfortable router for edge work with the 30 degree offset on the handle configuration and the Dust Collection is a huge improvement!!! The collet's are also improved as the older version found on the OF 2000 used to wear when used heavily on solid surface materials.

I thought the price tag for the OF 2200 was out of this world and I'd never want one but after playing with it have changed my mind.

Everyone,
Like Per, I have not used either the 2000 or the 2200.  I still use the OF 1400 (used it last night on the MFT with a guide rail to cut a long series of dadoes).

UPDATE

Festool has provided me with a 2200 router for review and experimental purposes.

Folks, we are going to see if,as it sez in the catalog, "You might think its a portable shaper"

Stay tuned. I just removed it from the systainer and the projects I have in mind will take some time.

Also as my real work schedule allows.

At the unveiling, Father Bob had the same reaction I did.

OHMIGAWD itsa Monster!  Kinda all one word exclamation is how he sounded.

Per,

Tell Bob to be careful around this monster. At his age in life he don't need anything scared years off it.  ;D

Per, I'm looking forward to what you come up with.

Likewise.

I await the kapex review.

But, wouldn't you know it.
Just as I start to rearrange the shop for
rough sawn lumber break down,
(Folks, I will document this as a sort of separate tutorial featuring the TS75 and Hl850e planer)
I get a call for a paying Job.
Guys and gal's we need a paying job.
It's tough when you grow accustomed to chips and 9 lives.
Any body tried the super supper yet?
I digress.

i got the of 2200 about 6 weeks ago its a beauty and a beast !!!! I've been using it a lot this week cutting some ribs for a barrel vault ceiling , in 1/2 ply with template cutter , in 1 pass, great stuff , i could have been cutting butter!!!!

i Have the oF1010 and of 2200 and i had the 1400 and took it back (dust collection wasent good enough)
and i think for 90 percent of people on this forum is best suited to 1400 doest it all as far as im concernd

I use festool for building for a living but for a hobby wood worker realy a 1400 is best suited the 2200 is good
but VERY heavy for just using for profile stuff etc and more expensive than any hobbiest needs to spend
there is other ways to do thing but if you want one buy one but its a luxuary not a nisesity for most [2cents]

I've had no problems with the dust collection on the 1400, its a great router too, a bit more of a all rounder, but certainly not just for the hobbyist .
this is how i make my living too, I've jointed many a worktop and made plenty staircases with it, i just have some big  cutters that will not fit it, I had a
heap of junk trend T9 that i have been wanting to change for some time, so the 2200 will be bench mounted a lot, but its better to cut strings with than the 1400
just because it heavier

the only problem with dust collection with the OF 1400 was doing worktop mitres the shroud was to big of a gap to suck up 50 percent of dust but a bit of selotape would probably sort it but i had my eye on the 2200 from get go when the wood whisper (mark) poped down the shroud on it i was hooked [eek] but its VERY  [scared]  bench mount i perfect for the 2200 but if was to pick just one router it would be the 1400 even though i dont own one anymore, but if im right us fetooligans are tool nuts and we want a tool for very job even though we own somthing that would do the job but will spend a grand in a heartbeat to do it seconds quiker  [big grin]

Hi, the retractable dust shroud on the OF 2200 router doesn't work. It clicks, but doesn't retract? The OF is new, never been used.
Ah, ok
I used some friendly force with a screwdriver.
Now is works. It retracts.
But have to use the screwdriver every-time.
Pffff.

Do I have to use some grease, oil, or not? Oil and dust?
Anybody ideas? Help? Thanks...
