I am looking to get a OF1010 as my local dealer has not been able to get any 1400s. I prefer to support local and they have 1010s in stock. Yes, I know the limit of 8mm collet, but was wondering how well it swings the 35mm or 20mm hinge cutter as well as other cutters of that size. Any guidance for slot depths that are tolerated?

It can run any bit that fits the collet. You would use a slower rpm with the larger bits and you would have to take more pass than with a more powerful router.

Keep in mind that Festool offers a 50 mm rebating bit for use in the 1010.  Ya, it's aluminum but it's still a pretty impressive chunk of metal to be spinning at 12,000 rpm.  [smile]

The 1010 is a very robust router, you just need to dial down the speed & the feed for the larger bits.

...
24.000 on that collet ...
:D

The OF1010 is one of the strongest 8mm routers out there. Maybe the Maffel industrial spindles are better.

The OF1010 shaft assembly is stronger than what a 8mm shank can handle itself, hence the "thing" above attaches via its own collet to avoid the limitations a 8mm shank presents ... that is how confident Festool is here ...
