OF1400 1/4" collet question

Hi all,

For those of you who have had the OF1400 for a while - I got this when it was introduced.  I never had to use 1/4" collet on this router, but now I do need it, but cannot find it anywhere.  Was this part of the package back then?  If so, I will double my efforts to try to find it before buying a new one :-(

Also - is it true that a DW 625E collet will fit (and use the same wrench)?  But alas - I can't locate that collet online either, might be just as expensive.

thanks!

mine came with one, it is stuck in it's spot in the insert that holds all the stuff in the systainer.

Richard,

Where is there a 1010 for $84?  Even with the exchange rate I don't see how that's possible.

My OF 1400 came with two 1/2" chucks. The dealer who sold it to me has seen a few instances of incorrect packaging. Tell your dealer the thing simply wasn't there.

Well I looked again everywhere I have Festool stuff, could not find it.  I am going to have to assume that I lost it, since it has been many years.  One thing that did turn up is the PC copy ring (my wife found it, had her looking to...).

1/4" collet for OF 1400 is 492141, $42 USD should you need a replacement.

Shane, in all honesty I don't mind paying premium prices for premium tools (I own a TS 75, OF 1400, MFT/3 150/3, Domino, CT 22 and R0 90 on order), but $42 for a collet when Porter Cable and other router mfgs sell them for $10??? The poor guy already spent $500 for his router, it just seems too much. Perhaps they should tag these parts with prices when they are new so one is super careful in not losing something they rarely use. As for me, I am going to ask my wife to take my 1/4" collet and put it in our bank safe deposit box!  [big grin]
