Having just received my new LR32, guide rail and new OF1400 router I discovered that the bits supplied with the LR32 are all 8mm. My NEW OF1400 does not come with an 8mm collett. Shame on Festool for not detailing this or have I just missed it from the manual somewhere? Do I need to order an 8mm collett?

The 1400 should come with an 8mm collett.  Look around in the systainer.  Maybe it came loose and is hiding somewhere.

Unfortunately they are 8mm shank cutters in the LR-32 Set, and you will need an 8mm collet for your OF1400.

Having checked the Festool GB website, you are correct in the observation that the collect size isn't listed. I've dropped a note to the team at Festool GB to see if they can get that changed to clarify what's included.

In Australia the routers come with imperial collets (yes, we are metric except for router bit shanks, car wheel sizes and when exaggerating). So when purchasing the LR32 I was alerted to the fact that I had to also purchase the 8mm collet - both on the Australian website and in the store.

It was the same for me here in the UK. We are supposed to be metric but the router came with 1/4 and 1/2 inch colletts but the LR32 has 8mm bits, come on Festool get your act together. Even if it had stated on the LR32 you need the optional collett would be needed or even sell it with the LR32.

USA market comes with an 8mm collet as standard scope of delivery.

Why FT UK is playing marketing games by not including a metric collet is flabbergasting to me. Especially since they are a metric country and FT USA has decided to abandon metric scaling in favor of SAE.    [eek]

I'm sure there'll be an official comment about how it's just too burdensome to carry another SKU and take up precious warehouse space to stock them.

Disappointedly I had to order a new 8mm collett from my original Festool distributor here in the UK which has arrived today. Hopefully now I will be able to start using the tool I paid hundreds of GBP to use.
