The OF2200 is a very weird soft start. I have a lot of soft start routers, but this thing actually doesn't move at all for a split second. All my other routers ramp up, but dont have that hesitation.
I think this is a good thing becasue it really eases into the power. There is no draining the lights or anything when turning it on. And even under strain with a CT 36 I have never blown a circuit yet. I never plunge more than .5 " with a .5" bit in ply and hardwoods so we would have to really beat on the thing to start stalling it out.
I was just using the OF2200 router about 5 minutes ago swinging a 49" circle for a template out of a 52" x 52" edge glued piece of ply and I had a thought in my head that using this router is so fun! It only took 2 passes to get though the 3/4" pre-finished Tiger Ply.
I just come up with ways to use this router so I can play with it. It's my favorite tool and I can't wait until the next version with a built in light and maybe adjustable cross laser so I can line up the edge or center of the bit.
