This doesn’t hold a candle to the work I see here on a weekly basis, but I thought I would post a recent project. We recently moved and my wife needed a new credenza and upper cabinet. She’s happy with the results, so all is well.

While I know others may disagree, I am a fan of the $52/sheet ubiquitous HD maple plywood. Haven’t had issues with voids or warps and have used it extensively for cabinet projects. Here, I decided to use the “bad” side as a feature, running through the cabinet doors. The walnut on the credenza is walnut solid stock on the edges and veneered drawer fronts and sides.

[member=12527]jroth33139[/member] - that's a pretty creative approach to make an asset out of what would be considered a liability in ordinary circumstances. Makes the finished product absolutely distinctive!

You show others what's possible and encourage others to get out of their comfort zone.

Keep posting here in the FOG - that's what makes it the useful Forum it continues to be!

I think that looks pretty sweet how you ran the wood grain through all the doors.  I saw the pics before I read your note that it was the "bad" side of the plywood, and I don't think I would have picked up on that--it looked like some very interesting wood grain.

And I agree with your observation about hit-or-miss plywood quality at HD.  I have lucked out at times  and gotten really nice plywood there.

Looks terrific!  Glad you mentioned the HD ply.  I always see Birch or Red Oak, but never any Maple.  I would like to try it.  Are those doors plywood and edge banded?  The 'bad' side looks pretty cool here.

Thanks everybody!  It was a fun project, and my first without a tablesaw -- only Festools. [member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member], yes, the doors are just slab plywood, with iron-on edge banding. On to the next!
