how far does the festool oil go? meters per litres

[ fixed spelling mistake - Shane ]

Dean,

Your just trying to get your posting count up by correcting your spelling mistakes. Hope some one else does not cotton on to the idea, or his count will go up into the 10`of thousands  [big grin]

I have no idea to the answer to your question but would think a lot will depend on what species of wood and if it is the first or subsequent coats.

Not heard a lot  of feed back about the festool  applicator or the oil.

John

oak floor 1st coat then 1 more unless it needs 3. i might use bona naturale if anyone can recommend it

too much shine. they want to keep at natural as poss, i hear good things from the bona stuff but like to hear from somebody that has used it

Deansocial  Bona Naturale is a very good product, flat as can be.It looks like the timber is unsealed it is that flat.Shows traffic  dust so floor maintenance  is a must.Make sure you keep a good wet edge and only work small areas.
Edit:very expensive though

well thats the look they want so looks like the bona stuff is way to go. application method?

For floors:bona Naturale roller(denoted by brown twist in roller cover) and brush.
remember small  sections to control  wet edge /lapping.
Good luck [wink]

Thankyou, i better get pricing it up then hope 1 4.5l does the job if not im £107 down on the job

+1 on the Bona. Used it on many jobs including my own floors.
I have some Festool Surfix oil I just picked up but haven't used it so I can't speak to coverage or anything else.
Will post once I actually use.

from what i remeber the 1 comp does not need a base coat, will have to do a bit of reading before i do it

i think i average around 6 square meters per 0.3l festool oil bottle on beechwood, using 2 coats which is enough. that's around 20 m2/liter.
It does depend on the fineness of the finish and the tendency of the wood to suck the oil in or not.

The finish is between satin and semi gloss depending on the polishing.
