Fell off the fence and ordered the Kapex / Midi combo today. Sorry for coopting your thread Glass1.

Charlie, I hope you have the 36mm Festool hose, it really is much more efficient than the 27mm.  I use the 27mm for my sanding and domino work and I actually have the smaller hose for hand sanding (which I don't use very often).

I have one on the boom arm and a 5 meter. I should probably look at one of the cut offs.

Edit: Will call ToolTown tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.

Now that you all have had time with the kapex Please tell us what you think now

Like several others I got Kapex and a Midi.  I switched to the 36MM hose as well. Mine required no adjustment out of the box and everything was flat and square.  I am a hobbyist who does lots of projects around the house but not a tradesperson that uses it everyday.  I have used it to build shelves, closet organization, a computer stand, a cart for the Kapex, systainer storage, etc.  I find it to be a joy use and very accurate.

The dust collection is vastly superior to my old Dewalt but I wish it were better.  I have thought about shortening the 36MM hose but I like to occasionally use it for another tool so have not done that yet.  I will likely add some FastCap Stache or something like that to the bottom on the boot to see if that helps with DC.

Biggest improvements over the Dewalt for me in addition to dust collection are the lasers and the trenching functionality which I never thought I would use.

I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase the Kapex and so far have not had one issue.

I have been using the kapex for a little over a year, bought it because I was building and installing a library with lots of mouldings.  When the kapex showed up, I compared the stiffness or flex to my old 12" dewalt, the dewalt was stiffer, so I tried different cuts with kapex, all with great results, no deflection on any kind on any cut.

This is my fourth miter saw, I was a little worried about spending this much for a miter saw, but this thing is really far more accurate and versatile and than any of my other saws, no comparison if you do high end wood work, its a joy to use.

I made a zero clearance insert , although it is wider than blade now, probably from miter cuts, I have not seen the flex of the head show up in any cuts, I just did a big teak project cutting all 2x teak, cuts are still like glass with this blade.

I read some comments about the motor having problems, sounds like it might be some isolated batch, I hope festool would do a recall of them if they figure out that was the problem.
