now I have 2 mft 3 to take to job sites, and I have the 1080 in the shop for shop work, and the kapex table for my kapex.  however today I had to make several counter tops plywood with laminate.

the tables worked out great to be able to set the ply all the way across cut it, laminate it etc.

I took several pic and will post them tomorrow.  do any of you other crazy festoolaholics use  2 on the job site?

I have three MFT's in the shop on carts. One of them ( the old MFt1080) is my dedicated job site table. Love it!

I have one mft3, I am mostly shop based,  and every time I go to cut something on it I have some other project being clamped or worked on so I have been thinking that it is time to add another.  I am glad to hear that it is working for you.

I carry one.  Maybe after the first of the year as I reinvent my company there will be the opportunity for a second.

Kreg,

A couple of questions

1 what type of rig do you drive
2 do you setup/ break down everyday
3 what do you Haul in every setup
where do you most often setup  outside, garages, occupied space in the home?

the reason I ask is i have a Great idea for a  2MFT  wheelbarow cart  but as I have no MFT's i am too lazy to build it or even Sketchup it.

The first (best)  IDEA is a bottom plate (steel or Al)  with 20mm plugs in the mft spacing ans a third that accepts a thumb screw on each side to lock the mft down  to the front is a wheel  allowing the  mfts to lay flat  on their sides but when tilted roll.  the top has a plate with a handle setup.  you bolt the wheel assy and the handle assy to opposite corners of the MFT before you break the first one down then add second when they standing sideways.  the units are now wide enough to be stable, and you can roll it to the work area.

If anyone wants to build one  PM me and i will call you and discuss the concept more fully.

Kreg,

A couple of questions

1 what type of rig do you drive

I drive a Semi truck ( well that is what I need)  I drive a ford 3/4 ton extended van

2 do you setup/ break down everyday

it depends on the job,  this  counter top job should have been one day, but have to go back today for couple of hours, i was able to leave set up.  usually I can set up and leave it till done,  most jobs that I will need double mft will be 1-4 days

3 what do you Haul in every setup

kapex, several systainers with all my festools etc a systainer port that is connected inside the van, ct midi or ct22,  drills batteriers etc ladders.  it also depends on the task,  most of my task are custom built ins.  I usually make parts at my house shop, cut up, dominos boards, pocket holes, shelf holes. then load it up and go to the job and put it together  my van is usually pack pretty good

where do you most often setup  outside, garages, occupied space in the home?

I usually set up in their garage, this job I am in the dining area kitchen due to this is a rental and had room and because it SNOWED and they do not have a garage.  if weather is nice or summer time spring etc, I will set up outside in the drive way if pretty level and then if need to be kept over night then pull it in the garage.the reason I ask is i have a Great idea for a  2MFT  wheelbarow cart  but as I have no MFT's i am too lazy to build it or even Sketchup it.

[glow=red,2,300]Wheels so you can tilt it up and wheel it with a good size wheel would be great, the only thing with wheels is the terreen we have to deal with,  steps, dirt etc.  but it would be great so the table will be tilted up and the wheel could go on the corner[/glow]If anyone wants to build one  PM me and i will call you and discuss the concept more fully.

The Semi truck is no joke.  With the Snow down i feel naked as I am not pulling my trailer everywhere.
As for wheels what i am thinking  is like a 12" pneumatic wheelbarrow wheel.    but then the size when it is stored.

Do you use the MFT's in the shop as well?

here are the pictures using the 2 table set up in the rental house close to where I am redoing the counter tops.  it is very helpful to hold the full sheet of ply for making cuts, and using for applying the laminate etc.

then the last pic is the finished job !  hi ho hi ho..... its off to the next job I go!

honeydokreg,

I've got two tables and find it invaluable. I use sheet material 3050 x 2070... Means it's at the right height and easy to work with.

So, are you cutting out your ply then applying your own laminate to it ? Or were you using the ply onto which you put your worksurface on to cut ?

If your applying your own laminate - how do you apply an even pressure to ensure it goes down correctly throughout the entire area ?

Thanks Paul.

p.s. the big 3050 x 2070 stuff was egger EuroLight board and 60mm thick - they were fun to move
