Old CT 22

My older (year 2000) /CT 22 outlet is worn out. When I plug the tool cord into the outlet is very loose and I keep loosing contact and of course the tool quits and I have to go wiggle it around to start again.

Can I get a new one? How hard is it to replace myself?

Give Festool service a call, the outlet is easy to change out.

Interestingly enough though, on my Midi, the electrical plug cover keeps falling off because of interference with the vacuum hose, but that's a different story.

Replaced mines took all of about 5 mins. Real easy, new one comes with everything you need, even the screws (if I remember right)

Interestingly enough though, on my Midi, the electrical plug cover keeps falling off because of interference with the vacuum hose, but that's a different story.

The interior contacts are different and hold up to plug insertion and removal better.  Tom has posted a term for that type of receptacle but I can't remember what it is.

The original receptacle is a single wipe (the contact in the receptacle contacts only one side of the plug blade), the replacement receptacle is a double wipe (pinches the blade between a pair of wipes).

If it takes longer than 5 minutes to change the receptacle you took a potty break or stopped for lunch.

Thanks for the info guys, was just curious after Peter's earlier post.

Tom, knowing the old outlet is a single wipe, probably the reason I haven't had issues with it up to now, is that the cord is never disconnected from it. It's my one shop vac that rolls around with the cord and hose always attached that I use for all my small tool dust collection. In 8 years, I don't think a cord has been plugged-in/unplugged in the outlet more than 10-15 times.  [unsure]
