Old model track saw.

I have an old model TS 55 I bought back in 1999-2000.  I dropped the saw on a concrete floor and bent  shoe/skid plate. It now rocks when I set it on the track.

My question is, should I order a new shoe/plate and install it myself or should I send it in for repair in case there is other damage I don't see?

I have the same saw.  I tested the gravity theory on my wood floor with the same discovery as you found.  the metal plate will bend when meeting an undentable floor.  I had lots of time on my hands and removed the plate.  I tried to straighten with clamping to my heavy bench and a piece of wood.  I bent back as far as i dared, but not far enough it did not spring back to the shape it had after dropping.  I took the plate to my equipment guru and left it for him to straighten.  I don't know what he did other than touch it with his hands (as he often does with my landscaping equipment).  I picked it up a few days later and it fit purrfectly.  I have since gotten the REQ 55 with the fiberglass/plastic (?) plate.  I don't think I care to test gravity with this one. 

The new one, i use inside my shop.  The old one I use when I use the open air portion of my shop.

You might want to send it in anyway, if for nothing else, to see that the blade is properly aligned so you get just a smidgen of toe-in.

. I agree, worth a going over if you can spare the tool out of your shop( which I guess you can since the shoe plate is bent now.. [embarassed])
