Just curious to know how long guys in the UK generally have to wait if they order in an item from festool to their local stockist?
I've only ever ordered items from online companies or picked things off the shelf as such, but I recently inquired about my local stockist getting in a kapex with UG stand and extensions and was told a wait of around 10 days, granted this isn't massive , but I know I could order other stuff in from dewalt or bosch and it be in next day.
The dealer has only recently started stocking festool ( around 6months or so) and said they find festool a real pain to deal with and get on time deliveries from which I was quite surprised to hear.
Is this common?

Well yes.

Thing is before EU law fined festool for price fixing it wasn't a problem.

Because

Dealers had plenty in stock but now dealers are able to sell festool at lower prices  and since then many dealers in the UK have now stopped stocking as many festool tools.  So now they order from Germany only when some one wants a festool tool.

I know my dealer I used regularly for all my festool was brilliant now he says it can take a week for a tool I want because he refuses to stock up because he doesn't make as much on the tools any more.

All stock comes in from Germany hence the 10 day wait

+1 for n&b that's where my kapex set came from

Thanks, I don't think my local deals alot with festool anyway which probably doesn't help, not that 10 day wait is that bad, I'm just very impatient [big grin]

Good Evening

I don't usually comment on these things but as a dealer I thought I may be able to help.

It can be frustrating for customers hoping to pick up a machine from a local dealer only to be told it will take 10 days. Some dealers do order more frequently and so assuming the item is in stock in Germany then delivery 'should' only be 4-5 days. The point about low return on investment is a valid one and totally understand why some dealers would not want to keep many machines in stock.

To answer your question, anywhere from 3-10 days is the usual delivery time from Germany to a UK dealer, but if you ask your favourite or local dealer to order something for you, then maybe ask them to call Festool UK to check the item is in stock and available. For example, recently MFT/3's, OF 1400's and now Dominos have been in short supply and the cost of a phone call could save you and the dealer some pain, as you can easily find out what the stock situation is by calling Festool UK.

Also, sometimes for mission-critical orders, it is possible for an item to be sent next-day to a dealer, providing the order is placed within a certain time frame and the customer is happy to pay the cost of shipping, which understandably for air freight is high.

I know a low price is very important, but I am a great believer in customers and their local dealers building relationships, especially if you need regular supplies of consumables. Show your dealer you need a good local supplier and if he or she is good they might listen, and then I'm sure they will respond with their stock offering and reward your loyalty with keeping the things you need on the shelf. Then you can have what you need the same-day and not the next-day.

Just my two-penneth worth from the other side of the counter.

Best regards

Was just speaking to my supplier of tools on lead times for festool. He was saying that before festool got fined with price fixing getting tools was really easy now it seems to be a nightmare. He recons that with the prices coming down to more managel levels for people and the demand is out weighing the production line. In fact he was saying the production line isn't as big as you would think. The ts is one of there most popular items and there is a 2 week wait

Well since you're telling me how hard it is for dealers out there I ordered a lr32 rail today and paid 10% more than I could have got it online in an effort to support my local dealer.

I ordered an mft/3 on the 7th April. Was originally told it would come on the 15th now they're telling me the 30th.
