I am thinking about using Osmo Deck Oil on a Garapa deck. Can't find any information about it, good or bad. Anyone have any experience with it?

I have used Osmo Teak Oil on a Bangkirai deck for two years on a new deck. The result was very nice, but it took only 4 weeks before the grey started coming out again. Both years I have applied two coats and weather conditions were average for Germany, but the only space the wet look is still intact is underneath a ceiling. I should mention that you have to sand down the Osmo where it is still in tact, but you can brush/ polish off the grey where it is deteriorated.

I am in the middle of another try with a Bangkirai Deck Oil from natural-farben.de. It's supposed to go deeper than the Osmo and keep the wood breathable. At the same time it has more pigment against the sun/ grey effect. The Osmo seems not to go that deep and looks more like lacquer than oil finish.

As soon as I have applied the new oil I will post my experience. Unfortunately weather conditions are just not in favour of my project.

I think Osmo do a decking oil specifically for Garapa, I'm fairly sure 013 is the product code.
I had a recent visit to a supplier here in Scotland and was impressed by the species available and in particular the Garapa decking.
It doesn't actually require any finish for longevity but will go "silvery grey" eventually.
If it helps the link is here www.russwood.co.uk/decking/garapa-decking
Good luck with the project.

I wouldn't use osmo.

I can't recommend another brand but I can recommend NOT using osmo.  It's an overrated expensive product which has only done so well over last couple years because heavy marketing/advertising and pushing dealers to promote it.

Then because its easy to apply a lot of trademan think its brilliant so word gets round its good stuff.

Then you soon learn osmo doesn't stand the test of time.

I know because I was gullible and bought into osmo and I have found its not that durable product.

I used Osmo on one job and never again. Made a lovely pair of oak doors for a customer, recommended Osmo myself because I had heard a lot of good things about it, a few weeks later I had to strip it all off and retreat with something else because it was starting to fail.
