Hi -

I know I've seen other folks post on ways to make custom systianer label cards.  I started a Systainer Store YouTube channel a couple months ago and wanted to draw attention to a couple videos showing details on customizing label cards and as well as an overview on customization of the exterior of the systainer (handles, stickers, printing, etc.)

Quick run down of what I use for making custom labels.
Walkthrough of the ID Maker software.
Methods to customize a systainer exterior.

That is very cool!

I have been planning to CNC engrave thin aluminum plates, but I think I like this better. Can color code, etc.

YES!  I'm with you on color coding.  Or, at least I've thought about it and not done it yet.  A customer recently sent me some images of what he did and I posted them on the Instagram.

Oh man - I didn't realize the YouTube links would come across as videos here.  Sorry for so much content, I thought they would be simple links out to YouTube.  Now I know.

Sorry to rain on this parade but I find Brainstorm ID products useless for me, although I'd love to be able to print some labels for my systainers. Why useless? I have an Epson printer of fairly recent vintage. Their printer trays for Epson all are designed for printer models from the early 2000's to maybe 2014 or so. They do say that their trays are compatible with any Epson printer that uses the same sized trays, but the tray dimensions are nowhere near the tray in my "relatively" modern XP-8600. In fact, before I got the XP-8600 I had various models in the Epson Artisan 800 series and none of their trays would fit those either.

I have no idea if the same is true for their products for Canon printers but I suspect so. It seems high time that Brainstorm ID design and sell products that will fit the printers that people actually use these days.

Hey [member=608]Mark Katz[/member] -

No need to apologize.  It is helpful to share what your experience has been.

I'd agree with you in that Brainstorm could do better in supporting printers and updating their web site with details, make it very clear.  When I started researching this I spent too much time seeing if the existing printers I own or have access to would work.  It wasn't clear.  Reading the compatibility table and then looking at comments on Amazon and more.  Finally I emailed their support, which I'd say was VERY CLEAR and got back to me quickly.  Ultimately I ended up purchasing a printer, and this may not be the path that everyone wants to go down.

In the customizing video I offer some other ways to label a systainer.  No doubt there are even more.
Who knows, maybe in time I can offer a service to print label cards.

Make it a great day - Sys Tim

I don't have an inkjet, because the print quality is so much worse (and slower) than a laser.  I use the laser teslin cards that they sell, then laminate them.  You can also buy teslin inkjet stock instead of laser without needing a special printer.  They are thinner than PVC and you need to trim them to size because the lamination makes it bigger.  I stick a piece of double stick turners tape behind it to make sure it is secure to the systainer.  I know what is where and it is kind of in the middle of the sharpie'd card vs. the nice PVC that Tim does.

Very nice!

The goal here is to inspire others, so that we can all keep improving our system of working.  Having options is great and I like how you took the time for your set up [member=63643]cpw[/member]

I didn't want to invest in another printer (and space for it, etc) since I already have a printer.

I print the labels out on photo paper from Costco (cheap). I tried to find an avery label that fit right and just couldn't fine one.

I then have to trip the label, which is a little annoying; then i place one of these in front of it, and it's crystal clear, not the hazy ones that come with the systainers:

Oooh. That looks very nice. It also happens that the inkjet I have (Canon Pixma Pro-100) is compatible. Now have to find out if this is something NA-only or also available in the EU.

EDIT: Haha forget it. Tray and 100 cards; $37; ok. Shipping; $61 (10-20 days)  [dead horse]

So... they also have an eBay shop. Exact same thing is $48.39 there (it's including the 21% VAT here) plus of course the eBay fat, but amazingly the shipping is "only" $24.19 there, also already including the VAT. So their site would end up costing me at least $119 while via eBay it might only be $72.58

For photo's, laser printers are junk. For texts, graphs, etc.; lasers are absolutely perfect. For photo's... they really are ###.

[member=8955]Coen[/member] You can look on other European shopping sites.  I'm not sure what is all available, but I've seen Brainstorm Supply stuff on Amazon, Wal-Mart and more.  They seem to hit a lot of channels.

Yeah, but they don't mention an EAN, so hard to search. It always seems everything from China is sold in the USA and Europe but in between Europe and the USA shippings costs are as if the Atlantic was a big desert where you would need 20 camels to transport 100 kg across...

Most of the Brainstorm ID products on the local Amazon websites (.nl, .de) are without any current sellers.

I just got the exact printer in the original post.
While rather finicky on getting the card tray to work, it printed several great labels.

Using the generator on brainstorm ID it was fairly straightforward to make some nice looking cards.
