parallel guides

my dealer is in Ashford too but its Ashford Middlesex Etr tools. I might use another dealer as lately the manager in there has become a right a***hole. We have a few over this way so plenty of choice.

When they came out, I really didn't see the point of the parallel guides, and didn't really look at them much.

Now, particularly having seen Roger Muller's and Brice's videos, I'm thinking that they're a really useful accessory. Now I NEED them. Damn you Festool! And damn you Roger & Brice too... [mad]

Rob did you get the full set with the bag for 250 I emailed them the other day and that price is correct so I might be ordering some myself when they get new stock as they are sold out now  [sad]

Whats the bag like too ?????? I was thinking of buying the full set then just selling the bag as I dont think I will need it.

Yep, got the set at advertised price. [big grin]
The bag is really good. It has an outer zipped compartment for 1400 rails while in the main section is compartmentalised for a range of uses. The 'lid' section has an arrangement to store the guides plus joiner bars etc. I will post a pic when I get it set up the way I am thinking of. o/a dims of the bag are 1440x260x155 give or take a couple of mm for measuring soft fabric [wink]

I was in Lebanon at class with Brice when Shane recorded the video of Brice using the parallel guides with the LR32 system.  That is another reason to get them - it speeds up routing cabinet shelf and hinge holes dramatically!  Everyone there was impressed with Brice's innovation.

Used my parallel guides on a project this weekend. Needed to cut some 120mm  x 2400mm strips out of sheet goods. The parallel guides made fast, accurate, easy work out of it.

Did you use them with your new guide rail ?

Yes, I used them with the 3000mm Guide Rail. It sure is nice to have the extra length when ripping sheet goods. The extra length is great when using the parallel guides.

Glad to hear you find them efficient.
I managed to get mine dialed in and used them on Friday, client discovered that the existing newel post had rotted thru' at the base when he lent on it ;D so I had to wait until I got a new newel post made and routed out. It must be the quickest I have ever reduced a sheet of ply down to risers, on site, ever!

I reckon these have to be the best accessory ever invented for the circular saw...... well since the guide rail that is. [big grin] [big grin]

I am little disappointed in the guides, for what I wanted to do with them.
I wanted to be able to cut down sheets of Ply to 35" but they are about 8" too short. Wish there was extensions available.

Paul

I think Festool is seriously considering making longer bars for them.  In the meantime, several great ideas have been shown in the above referenced threads.

Corwin

Thank you. Just in time, I need to break down 30 sheets, so this is exactly what I needed.!

Cheers

Paul

It's easy to to off the 13" leaving the 35" you need. Although I like the mods to extend the guides too.

Well I went and bought them and they turned up Thursday looked in the box Last night and look below see if you can spot the mistake. [eek]

ther will be someone out there saying the same thing, but they will have the other hand [big grin]

You must be pretty hacked off about that! Sorry to see it, especially after you having been in two minds about getting them.
