I finally got my Performax drum sander up and going again after suffering a broken conveyer belt. Since this was the first use in 5 years after moving
and building the house, I hadn't bothered to setup the elaborate dust collection system that I had before (partially because I mostly use my Festools now!).

But I needed to surface sand a bunch of glue ups for my Simple Stickley Bookcases, and wanted to just get it done quickly. For those of you that have a drum sander, you know that that DC is a MUST, or else the fine particulates collect in the hollow ends of the drum and it quickly becomes unbalanced.

So I found one of those multi-step down DC adaptors in my box and discovered that it fit over the port on the drum sander, and also interfaced with the Festool hose (26 mm) I think.

I have to say that I was impressed with how good it did. Most dust was collected. Maybe not as well as my full sized 2 HP DC, but to give the CT credit, afterwards I remembered that the bag was getting full and when I checked it was indeed completely full, so I 'm sure it would have done better with an empty bag.

I have a couple videos showing it in action, but I synced them to iPhoto and now that they're in .mov format, YouTube won't accept them. Does anyone have hints on how to convert and upload those to YouTube?

Thanks.

I believe my Cyberlink software will do it.  If you don't own any, you could download it for free for 30 days.

Thanks Ken.

That's Windows software. "I'm a mac" (hence my use of iPhoto).

Fritter,

If you have the video in .MOV format you should be able to go to YouTube, sign into your account and then use the upload feature.

or you might try this:

I took a movie that I had in .MOV format, brought it into iPhoto.  Double clicked on the movie and it brought up Quicktime Movie player.  Then I went to File | Export.  Selected | movie to Windows Media File | and saved to my desktop.  Went to YouTube and logged in.  Then used the upload function.

Send me a PM if you can't make it work.

Peter

OK, here are the vids: (sort off, now YouTube is truncating them):

Vid1, showing the outfeed side, quarter sawn white oak, 220 paper:
Performax DC

Part 2, showing the CT 36 actually sucking the dust off the conveyer on the infeed side (I think, don't think it was being blown away):
Part 2

and this point I'm done ***** around with youtube and movie files.
