There is craftsmanship at all scales, from the pyramids to the smallest carved duck decoy.

Ron - that is a hibiscus. Beautiful flowers but grows like a weed late in the season.

I got the design ideas from google’n and YouTube. There is a nice video called 2 day Pergola. Plus I found a nice one at Home Depot but it was made of Chinese cedar. I did look over the PDF plans of it and was able to copy the nice corner corbels into my simple 2-d CAD program.

If anyone needs to notch out a 6x6 beam like this I found it much easier to use a long blade in a jig saw ( you still need to cut from both sides).

I made this from cedartone treated lumber. The slats/purlins were a pain. Due to limited size cedartone stock I made them by ripping 2x6’s into four pieces. You can imagine the prestress in this wet wood. I abused my 1950 Uni doing this.

My wife loves it!
