I have an older model Delta DJ-20 37-350 and need to verify the correct size knives to buy. I do not know the year the jointer was manufactured, but it was made in Taiwan. The knives that were in the machine when I accquired it were 8-1/16" x 13/16", but when I ordered replacement knives they were 8" x 5/8". Would anyone please be able to verify the correct size knives I need?

Thanks,

Daniel

Does anyone have a Delta DJ-20 8" jointer, model number 37-350, that could check the size of the knives? I was given my jointer last year and it was in storage for 10 - 15 yrs unused. I'm trying to determine the correct size knives I need, 8" x 5/8" or 8-1/16" x 13/16"?

Thanks,

Daniel

Try looking up American National knife or call them.  I get all my straight knives from them, one set is 30" and for a 100 year old jointer.

Great, I came across that website during my search. I will give them a call. Do they also have a sharpening service?

Thanks!

Infinity Tools sells 8" x 5/8" steel knives for all 8" Delta jointers.

They also offer these carbide knives.

Funny thing is, Delta doesn't offer any replacement knives for their jointers. They'll sell you nuts, bolts, brackets & springs, but no knives...wierd. [jawdrop]

I switched over to solid carbide knives for my 8" jointer over 25 years ago and have never regretted the decision.  I recently had them resharpened and put some high speed steel knives in for a few weeks and couldn't wait to get my carbide ones back.

No, but I have a good sharpener in NE indiana that I use.  He does mail in sharpening, but I have to think you can find someone close.
