Hi Shane,

For the tenth time this week I have logged out accidentally when hitting the Home Button.   [eek]

On an IPad the Logout button is directly below Home and I have big finger tips;
as do I suspect many FOG members.  [embarassed]

So could Logout be shifted, right over to the right past websites in an area of the tool box
not in constant use.  [big grin]

With thanks,

Stephen

Maybe Shane just did this, but on mine the logout button is to the right now.  To get back to home I just tap on the FOG logo when using my iPad or iPhone.

Thanks Peter, still below Home on mine. But you have solved the problem, so I will press FOG from now on.    [smile]

It depends on the width of your browser window as the buttons "stack" when the screen isn't very wide.

Stephen's fingers are big ... he with presses the left half of the iPad screen - or the right [eek]

Like Garry said depends on the width on my iphone the logout is below but iMac it's on the right.

I never use the Home button any way just click on the big FOG  Logo does the same thing

Too much different screen sizes these days. I've got 3,5 - 7 - 8 - 17 - 19 - 20 - 22 - 27 - 42 inch screens in the house. It's simply impossible for a website to optimise for all of them. And in my experience, anything from 10 inch and below isn't the best internet experience.

Yes, I can see about making an adjustment. I am traveling this week, so it may be the weekend or next week before I can do this.

Thanks Shane.

Pressing FOG is working, and from reading the posts above the solution may not be easy, but increasingly I believe that members will be using phones and tablets. I get the impression many members read and post using phones and tablets during work breaks (or there is not much work going on  [big grin] ).

So if a fix is simple and does not mess up the viewing experience for lap and desktop computer users I am sure that it would be appreciated by many.

Have a safe trip.

Are you attending the Festool event in China as mentioned by K119 in another post?

Edit. Shane must be clever  to answer the question before I finished the post.  [eek]

(The real reason is that I posted with a quote not working so I removed, and reposted.)

I would really appreciate a home button at the bottom of the thread pages.  This would save from having to scroll back to the top and would be handy. I know there's a page up button, but I only hit it to reach the home button.

You are not alone.  I never log out on my own unless I am traveling.

Peter

I use Tapatalk on my ipad and all I see on the upper left is a "home" button. If I hit that, I'm taken back to the main tapatalk forum login page.  So does "home" = logout on others page?

Two basic changes as I sit here in the airport waiting for my flight home...

1) I have hidden the Gallery, Festool Websites and Product Websites menu options on smaller screens to help with the menu getting "stacked".
2) I've added a script to make the navigation "sticky" so it stays on the screen as you scroll.

Land_Kel, none of this affects Tapatalk, which is an app. It's only applicable to viewing the forum in a web browser.

Shane, the new sticky menu is unfortunately a step backwards on an iphone. It permanently obscures a portion of an already small screen which means more scrolling for the regular task of reading the site, also it does not respond to horizontal scrolling so if zoomed in at all the right portion of the menu is  not accessible, and in the earlier version it was easy enough to scroll to the top with a double tap at the top of the screen (iphone feature). This cure is worse than the non-disease, usability has been reduced not enhanced.

EDIT: in addition, as a regular mobile user, the idea that parts of a site are obscured from my view is a huge pet peeve of mine, and since there is no 'pc' site I can click to for the full menu it's simply gone until I get to my laptop (which is less and less frequent). Successful mobile web/adaptive strategies are unfortunately not simple.

Sorry Shane, I have to agree with Paul. This sticky navigation stinks. I can't see what I'm typing right now. Could this feature be made user selectable in  users set up menu?
