I was going to sit on this, because it probably shouldn't have been displayed. At the Festool Experience demo last Friday, I saw the new set. I was told that it was not "officially" for sale yet, but would be upcoming.
This is one of those I don't need it, but will probably buy one, no official pricing though.
Since someone is offering one in the classified area, apparently some are drifting around?

I got mine from Europe. I bought several to make it more economical. You could be right. Europe seems to get these sets maybe 6 months before the US.

Kudos to Festool sticking with the blue systainer, but that insert is even more space-wasting than the one for the ratchet set.  Still looks better than the elastic lid insert, I suppose...

It would take some hard talking (or perhaps hard drinking) to convince me that 7 pairs of pliers in a Systainer was worth $250. Are Festool-branded Knipex REALLY that much better?  199 pounds or 162 pounds exc VAT at various UK dealers.

It seems that ToolCurve has them for sale in the US already.  Maybe a time-based embargo that was accidentally broken?  Someone turned on the link too early?

Channellockmakes exceptionally high quality pliers, but fails to pack them in a Systainer. I do not love the plastic box that much.  I will stick with Channellock.

Those are probably Felo pliers. Haven't tried Felo, but that set may not be all that high priced. At least not just due to it being Festool in a Systainer.  Felo average about $30 per pair if purchased as separates with Felo branding. So about $210 for the seven pliers regardless of the Festool branding and Systainer.

Personally I like Knipex, Snap On and Channellock for pliers and cutters.  But recently I have found that new Channellock teeth seem to wear extremely fast. In particular on the slip joint pliers, which I believe are actually discontinued after having been made forever. Switched to Snap On for slip joint.

It's NWS, not Felo or Knipex.

My first thought was NWS. But when I compared the handle details to NWS and Felo I thought it was a closer match to Felo. Those two are very similar though. Definitely not Knipex, as you say.

I agree...it'd be easy for them to double stack the stuff even if they just left you additional storage space. Here's a Woodpeckers set of radius jigs stacked on two levels.

Top level...

I agree with the amount of wasted space.  A SYS I is small enough that you can just toss in a few pliers with other tools and mostly won't have problems finding them; and a good pair of pliers is not so delicate that it can't get knocked around a bit.

Felo does not make pliers. Felo makes Screwdrivers.
Felo pliers are NWS. :)

A lot of cross pollination going on in the German handtool world. ;)

I thought ToolCurve only sold 3D printed goodies, adapters and such?

ToolCurve is not a Festool dealer. He just buys Festool stuff from overseas like I do. He’s got a really good price on that pliers set. I’d recommend going for it before he sells out if you want one. He’s got my price beat  [crying] At $250 there isn’t much profit for reselling here in the US due to the cost of shipping it over from Europe.

Well that explains the similarity.  [thumbs up]

I looked, but can't seem to find it? Maybe he's sold out?

Ridiculous waste of space for just some basic pliers.

Who is this aimed at? Someone with a museum? Who starts out with no tools and thinks... yes, I'll buy an expensive box full of foam with some pliers thrown in? So not someone who just starts out. Anyone not just starting out already has the pliers...  [huh]

And that stripping pliers... it's the type you only buy if you never have to use it again! Absolute horror to use, especially if using more than one cross section.

I wouldn't buy that set for some of the reasons mentioned by others. Besides that those of us who work have all those tools already. I would however, suggest festool think about designing a box layout like that would also accommodate other tools. If it was laid out to allow for other tools then it might be a nicer option for some.

I would have no qualms paying good money for good quality premium tools, years back buying certain types of cable crimpers could be upwards of a few hundred dollars each, but the waste of space I fully agree with, as well as the wire strippers. I personally hate these ones (and the spring loaded types which are even worse).

I like the blue systainer though! Different coloured cases would be very useful in general.
