Point Marking Pen

Here's a pen that squirts a tiny spot of paint to make a mark for drilling clearly visible. The paint is just like the Festool green. £8 from Wickes.

It was the paint colour that convinced me I needed it...

Could you use it through a small hole. For example, I've made a coat rack to go on the wall. It has pilot holes drilled in it for fixing to the wall. Could I offer it up to the wall, level it and then use this to squirt through the pilot holes to mark the wall?

Yes you can. The example shown on the wrapper showed it being used with steel brackets.

I usually use a smaller drill to mark through things or a screw and tap it with a hammer to 'centre punch' the wall.

HUGE problem with pica ink markers is that they have an Orange body though, a colour known to cause aggression!!!

I got a PICA love it. At first I was using the normal grey lead,

Now I find myself using the red more and more.

As a Pica user I was drawn to a display at Lowe's that has specialty pencils and markers by Dixon.  Included were a long nose marker and long nose mechanical pencil, skinnier than normal regular lead pencils, finishing pencils, fatter than normal regular lead with a triangular body (and sharpener).

Me too.  Especially when balancing my checkbook after buying some more Festools!  [eek]

One thing to keep in mind about the yellow and red non-grey colors in the deep hole dry marker is that they are wax based, so in case you work outside (in the summer) in the sun they can melt and when you push the button it'll deform the core and they'll get stuck.

Apart from this: great marker, always on me while working on coarser stuff.
For the fineer thingies I use a 0.5mm retractable pencil, which has the upside of not needing to be sharpened but dosn't work as a deep-hole marker.
