Hey guys,

I own a RO 90 and need to polish the cut end of a marble jamb. I have read that others have used Platin on their RO 90, but I can't seem to find it at Canadian suppliers. Just wondering if anyone has used another abrasives with any luck ???

Thanks for the info,
Johncarlo

Thanks Frank, got to love the info that's on this site. It sure makes my life easier. I also found a platin starter kit at my local dealer.  [big grin]

I would start with a 220 granat followed by 400 800 1200 work the 1200 really well to generate some heat.  Once that 1200 loads up depending on the stone you should be able to get a good enough finish for a jam use a little turtle wax to help give it a bit of glare.  The RAS would be your tool of choice, but it can be done with the 90 just need to do a good job in the lower grits.  If you really want it to shine you need to use marble polishing compounds.  If the stone is granite don't waste your time you need diamond abrasives.

Thanks for the info. It's marble and the cut end is showing so I would like to give it a little bit of a shine(3/4"x6"). I'm going to give it a test run on an off cut.

Good luck its easy.  One thing when I said generate heat if you can't touch it with your hand its too hot.
