politically correct

mcglip, this is the politically correct spot

and we are particulary intollerant of anybody who champions the rights of ONLY gay whales

who are you to deny the rights of lesbian and transexual whales ?

female whales can have their driving licence photos taken wearing full hijab

separate prayer rooms for each religion and facilities for the less able are mandatory

(forget the EUs 27 different languages)................. all government documents shall be written in every language under the sun

............................ although blind whales have to request LARGE TYPE or braille in advance

finally

check in staff will be sacked for wearing a christian cross (however small) in case it offends any other religion

.................  however the personal intervention of the british home secretary

MAY in some cases, reduce the sentance to "removed to duties away from public areas"

this situation will be kept under review,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, because we have staff members who are not christians and they might also be offended

The photo in your avatar is pretty small, but is that a pair of very pretty Shetland Sheepdogs?

Yes they are John,

Wonderful companions but more importantly, they excel at herding gaggles of small children on outings ;D.

Take any large group and you'll have a pretty well proportioned distribution of whatever characteristic you want to measure.

Greg, I've lived on both sides of the fence, and I speak from experience.  You can find closed-minded, intolerant people in any part of the political prairie, but there are way more on the side where I came from.  Richard Landes, a history professor who describes himself as "a liberal," has written about the phenomenon of how free societies tend to create personalities who, with the best of intentions, seek to tear down their own societies.  This essay sums it up fairly well:

Links to related essays are in the main frame of this page:

They run about seventy pages, printed out.  Don't ask me how I know.  ;)

Landes outlines these ideas, along with some info about himself, in this interview on a "right-wing-extremist-internet-hate-site"--

We have a pair too, about a year apart in age. One is the more common sable in color, the other a rather rare almost all white. Yes, they do make great companions, and they are extremely smart and easy to train. Frustrated by the lack of sheep in Los Angeles, mine spend hours "herding" each other around the yard.

There is a ranch a few miles North of the city that will train Shelties and Border Collies in the finer points of sheep herding, and has flocks of sheep available by the hour. And just like the golf courses, they are booked solid on the weekends. They say that Shelties bark less if they are kept "working" on a regular basis. I know I wouldn't mind it at all if my two little princesses made a little less noise.  ;)

but a metre is measured by the speed of light traveling in a vaccum for a specified length of time, ie there is no difference all countries can meausre it and they all come up with the same result every single time

But...what if you plugged two vacuums together in series?  :D  ;)

I may be nitpicking here but IMO the speed of light cant travel anywhere. An object traveling at the speed of light in vacuum for a specified amount of time could lead to the definition of a metre. Unless there are two vacuums, this would shorten the metre to half its length, unless there are some sheepdogs to make it move faster. Providing they have been on a full fat milk diet so they can keep up with the object, and are owned by your partner ;D ;D ;D

I like the way these threads evolve
