Poplar kitchen

Started this Kitchen remodel in a house built in the early 60's
Frameless cabinets
Select poplar stain in a driftwood color
I will try to post more pictures when I'm done

How did you construct the doors?

Love it!  I especially like the flat panels on the doors and the simple rail and stile profiles.  I would have never had thought to use poplar on a stained project but it works!  Well done.

I'm back at the job,hoping to finish setting the rest of cabinets today
I will take more pictures and post them
The cabinets are from a company called
W.W. Wood products
They have a line call Shiloh ,all wood construction and framed
And they have Eclipse. Frameless
Doors are a shaker style with a piece of molding top and bottom
First time I'm installing a poplar job like that
It is a select poplar.
Meaning that it is consistent in color(no black or green streaks)
And has been treated in a kiln oven.
Thermotreated?
It turns the wood a little grayish
They applied a stain call Seagull
I like it. Very different than what you see out there

Got everything set
Just need to trim it out and finish the back of pennisulla
Do the hardware and counter tops once they template
Some one ask to see the corner cabinets so I am including that

I just had to match cabinets doors that were built exactly the same way except they were made of cherry.  Your kitchen looks great.  I have always used poplar as a paint grade lumber,  very impressed with how your cabinets turned out.  I will  have to stain some poplar now!

The poplar I've used always had colored streaks through it. This completely changes my opinion of poplar...select poplar it is!

Poplar is great to work with and relatively cheap. Don't be afraid of the green and purple streaks. They can be stained and make some very pretty cabinets. Yes you do need to take some scraps and play with the stain and finish but the end results can be amazing. It's a little like natural hickory, very nice but not for everyone. I used to live close to a mill and could pick out all the green and purple boards, made some really nice things.
