Done.

I'm curious - did I miss a tourniquet listed in the contents?

No...and yes.

There is no tourniquet listed, but there is a functional one included. It's called a triangular bandage, and it makes a dandy tourniquet if one is needed.

WOW,  Please add my name to the list for the potential 2nd run of the first aid kit.  I have one from the first run and decided that an additional kit would be helpful......one in the shop and one on the road.  Thanks,
Bruce W.

Yeah... add me too. (remember...scratch each other's back.... [big grin])

Just have to get the wife to acquire a load of antibiotics and other meds to store in a systainer attached to your kit when bugging out.

Hopefully people that will pay that much for a first aid kit will keep it stocked, but you have no way of knowing. Even non expendable items such as scissors might be removed and not replaced.

Point taken - but I'll still bet on a kit that shipped complete from me versus one that is a complete unknown.

I would love to say I am in because I followed the last thread and it looks very complete, so thank you. I just need to think about it. It takes me a little bit to spend more than $100. I guess what i am saying is "subscribed" for a future yes (and deadline).

And the fact that it's an easy bug out tainer to go in the bug out truck to well, bugout. Dang zombies.

Thanks everyone! With only 5 days on the clock we have gotten to 2/3 of the minimum required to do a run. Yes, I realize that some of the commitment as tenuous, and that some folks won't end up being able to send the money, but I am still VERY encouraged by the responses.

As of this post we have:

FOG ID Qty
Mdr6407 2
Slartibartfass 1
ZolnerMD 1
pettyconstruction 1
Baremeg55 1

KDConst 1
Carman 2

Bruce W 1

Keep 'em coming boys and girls!

Would there be some kind of receipt?

My FSA will reimburse me for a first aid kit but I will need a receipt. I can buy a real cheap one from walmart to see how it is listed  :)
My employer dumps money into it every year and I never come close to using it up.

You will automatically get a receipt from PayPal. If that isn't enough, I could probably cobble something up.

Thanks for all your hard work  Living in earthquake country Please add me to the list. Thanks

Call me crazy but count me in for 1 (counting on getting the first 2 ordered shipped this week  [smile])

Never really paid much attention To all the threads on the first aid kits  but read this one this morning because just found out last week my 10 year old daughter has type one diabetes. Has been a big change around here trying to learn and get everything she needs to cover all possibilities. So it got to thinking what a diabetes emergency kit would look like and what size I would need to fit it in. Maybe a big sticker on top to say what it is. Just think the systainer would be easier to find in a panic. The hospital gives you a back pack for supplies but thinking that could get lost in all the other school back packs for the kids.

Sorry to hear about her difficulty.  It's good that you're thinking ahead about problem solving solutions to help her manage.
I ran across this link recently which you may or may not know about:
www.dlife.com/diabetes/illness_and_injury/first-aid
I think it's a good idea to use a systainer system. On a trip, for example, you can link it on top of a larger systainer that may contain her snacks etc, keep all her special needs stuff compartmentalized and together.

Diabetes is a scary disease, especially for the parent of a child. While you are undoubtedly willing to learn everything you can about living well with diabetes, your child only hears "No, you can't eat that!" It's quite difficult for them to understand that a piece of birthday cake or a slice of pizza could literally kill them. And it certainly isn't FAIR!!!

In my big "5-minute trauma bag" that I carry in my vehicle, I have only a couple of things for diabetes:

1. A Glucometer and test strips
2. A tube of Glucagon

For most medical emergencies involving diabetes, this is all I need since my goal is to stabilize the patient until they can reach definitive care (usually an ER). For EDC (Every Day Carry) by a type 1 diabetic, you'd want to add insulin and a complex carb snack at the least. I'm sure your daughter's doctor and diabetes coordinator have a very good plan for what she should have with her.

There isn't anything in the First Aid Systainer specifically for diabetes, but if I were in your shoes and looking to keep something my First Aid Systainer for a known diabetic, it would be the two items mentioned above. As for a container for her diabetes supplies, I think a Mini-Sys might be just the ticket?

Remember, the most important tool you have is the one between your ears. It can prevent a lot of problems from ever occurring, and makes you quite capable of helping to mitigate any that happen anyway.

You sound like a very concerned and protective parent - good for you. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with your daughter. I'm confident that you will BOTH be fine!

I am on the fence but dont want to miss out.

Count me in.

Only three more needed to reach the trigger point!

If it will help someone who wants one but isn't sure if they can pay *now*, I'll accept your commitment and create one on your behalf which I will hold until you can pay. It will have to be in a reasonable time frame, of course - I'm thinking up to 30-45 days out.

You could also pay in 'chunks' rather than the full amount all at once, if that would help?

Let me know if you have any other questions, concerns, or ideas. I am trying to make this viable for everybody, as this may be your last chance ever to own an authentic, genuine, actual, true, bona fide, kosher, innovative, creative, imaginative, inventive, new, novel, fresh, groundbreaking, pioneering, avant-garde, cutting-edge, unique, distinctive and Made-In-The-USA First Aid Systainer by WOW!

I think this is actually gonna happen, and I'm excited about it - again!
