Possible interest in second run of First Aid Systainers?

Sorry - I had a family emergency that had me occupied for the last several days. Everything is fine now, so back to work...

Yes, the update is that the Systainers go to the printer on Friday, and i'll have them back in about a week. Maybe less.

It's kinda hard to post exciting 'secret' pictures for this batch since you already know what it's gonna look like? I'll see if I can come up with something fun...

Thanks for the update.  Looking forward to getting it.

So will there be a third round . I joined FOG late to the game .

Not likely, but check your PM's.

Sorry for my absence here, and lack of communication. I've had some rather serious family and personal issues that are truly life-changing that have inundated me. Rather than sharing a lot of personal details, I'll just say that the most relevant thing right now is that I had a little setback with my recovery and am back on steroids and opiates, and can't really walk right now. Well, I can - a little - but not without a lot of pain. And the possibility that it will set my recovery back further. I'm totally bummed that I am not 'cured' by now. It's been almost two months of this?! At least the drugs ARE working, and I *AM* getting better! But at this rate, I'm not sure which will get here first - my recovery or the Festool PDC set?

[eek]

All that said, it is only SLIGHTLY delaying my progress on the First Aid kits. I couldn't pick up the printed systainers on Wednesday when they were ready, so Mrs. WOW picked them up on Friday and hoofed them into the spare bedroom / First Aid Systainer production area. I don't have any pictures right now - sorry. I'll get some and post them in the next couple of days.

While they were being printed and the lids were off, I *did* get some of the items packed into the lids.

And, fortunately, I can do a LOT / MOST / ALL of the assembly from a sitting position. I'll be putting the lids back on and installing the latches Monday or Tuesday, then working on filling them later next week. I'll get some pictures posted for everyone - soon.

i hope to begin shipping completed kits by the middle of October...or maybe sooner. I'll post another update next week.

Wayne,

Hope you have a speedy recovery (and stay off the foot!!!!) and the family issues get resolved...

Thanks for the update!

Staying off the foot is a real challenge. It's incredibly hard to just lay in bed and not do anything. I am (normally) an active guy, and I have a gazillion things on my to-do list.

I actually have over 25 projects I want to do in/to the shop. Seven of them involve systainers, and I can't WAIT to post about them and get feedback and comments from the Fine Folks of the FOG - the 'three f's'!

[big grin]

And thanks for the well-wishes. They are greatly appreciated.

I promised some pictures, so here they are. Here are the systainers fresh back from the printer:

and some of the lids:

Working sitting on the floor, I got them put back together and ready to be loaded up:

Aren't they purty?

It was "First Aid Christmas' here today. FedEx showed up with 8 - yes, EIGHT - boxes of supplies:

Mrs WOW got them into the entryway. I got to open and check them in. Here's the first box:

There are 6 more boxes due in today with more supplies. Glad I got these checked in and organized before those get here!

I'll start putting together the med kits this weekend, and perhaps even package some of the other bags of 'stuff' in preparation for building full kits. I still need to finish the lid-sort trays as well, so I have many, MANY hours of work to do before I can start shipping. But I think I'll be able to meet my goal of shipping on or around the 15th of the month.

More to follow...

Looking great Wayne!  Hope the foot is feeling better, looking forward to the arrival of some top notch First Aid kits!

A quick update:

First, thanks for all the well-wishes. I stood on my feet for most of the afternoon, working on my tractor after I broke it BIG TIME - I cracked the frame on the loader doing some bucket work. First time I've used the Oxy-Acetylene torch in a few years!  [eek]

Anyway, I'm hurting a little tonight but I think I'll still be good tomorrow.

[thumbs up]

As far as the kits - it seems we wiped out all of the bandages (in a certain assortment) in the warehouse and they have been waiting for more to come in. I've been on their case for the last week, and FINALLY on Friday they said that they would drop ship them to me so we didn't have to wait for them to get processed through their warehouse and re-shipped. They supposedly ship to me tomorrow (Thursday).

I was also short on two of the meds. Those shipped today.

Once I receive everything I will still need like 40 hours to sort, assemble, package, and then ship anything. Based on my schedule and abilities, we're looking at AT LEAST next week before anything goes out.

Maybe not the update you wanted if you're waiting for a kit, but at least you know what's going on...

Spent MANY hours last night and this morning (couldn't sleep) putting together the med boxes for the First Aid Systainers. I have 19 that are now done, and several more that are only missing a few items.

Shipping day is getting closer...

Well, you missed my birthday on the 15th!  [sad]

How is the foot?

Belated  [birthday song] - sorry I missed it!

The foot (actually feet, since I injured both) is slowly getting better. I am still on Steroids (Prednisone) but I am off the narcotic pain killers. I stood quite a bit recently working on the boo-boo to my tractor, and I seem to be tolerating it pretty well. Not without pain, but manageable.

At the risk of hijacking my own thread, here's some pictures of the carnage. First, part of the loader frame that failed in a spectacular manner:

[attachthumb=1]

And here's the bucket where it tore away from mount:

[attachthumb=2]

I must say that the last few days have satisfied any need that I might have felt to bend, weld, torch, drill, or grind metal!!! I am back frantically trying to finish the work on my driveway before the snow flies or the ground freezes. Then, once any of those occur, I can finally move on to some woodworking in the shop...

...after I ship the First Aid Systainers, of course.

[wink]
