Possible interest in second run of First Aid Systainers?

Yup, definitely a failure there.  Did you overload it?

Anywho, if you moved down South you could have (most likely) 365 days each year to work on that driveway!  [eek]. Just saying.

Did I overload it? What kind of a question is that?

Of COURSE I overloaded it! [big grin]

Actually, I over-stressed it digging it in hard clay.

As far as moving south - Texas is one of the few places I'd actually consider moving to.

Come on down, Wayne... Like Lyle Lovett says, "We know you're not from Texas - Texas wants you anyway."

I made the trip from Fargo about 55 years ago. I don't think it hurt me.

My wife wants to know if you have a spare bedroom for rent? She'll send me down tomorrow...

I've been to San Antonio recently on business and loved it. Would move there in a heart beat if I could find a suitable job...

Don't suppose you had any extra kits, or cancellations? I'm new, just saw this, very cool.

It's 4am in Minnesnowta, and here's today's update:

I worked on the kits for 18 hours today - sorting, counting, and packaging. I've spent a total of almost 50 hours over the last four days. The results are:

• All of the Med Boxes are complete and ready to go into kits.
• I've counted/handled/processed over 8,000 bandages so far!!! My eyes look like this right now: [eek]
• I am hoping to get a few kits shipped later today - after I grab a few hours sleep.

I'll post back here later to let you know how it went with getting the first ones shipped. Once I get the first batch shipped, the remainder of them will go out over the following 10 days or so.

Leave the porch light on and the welcome sign out - it won't be long now!!!

[thumbs up]

I'm sitting here in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, awaiting my Air France chariot that will carry me home today to Florida, via Paris and Atlanta, after the last seven weeks of a very tough work tour here.  Timing on the shipment of the First Aid kits couldn't have been more perfect for me!

Looking forward to the delivery!! [tongue]

Cheers,

Frank

Well, it's been almost 48 hours since my last update. I have spent at least 24 of those hours working on the First Aid Systainers. I suppose I should start by saying that I *SERIOUSLY* underestimated how much work I had left to do. Since I last posted I have:

1. Discovered that I forgot to put the tourniquets in the Med boxes, so for each box I:
• Printed new content lists
• Opened the med box and removed the old list
• Put the tourniquet where it belonged
• Put the new content list in the box
• Closed up the med box and latched it
DONE! But I think I wasted over an hour redoing them. Ugh!

2. Finished dealing with the bandages - thousands more of them! This included:
* Printing labels for each type
* Counting each bandage type into exact piles
* Placing a label on top of each pile
* Placing each pile (with label) into a zip-loc bag
* Sealing the bag
Then in some cases:
* Collecting multiple bags and inserting those in yet another zip-loc bag, and sealing that.

Yes, it adds a small amount of cost and time, but I believe it makes for a better-organized kit.

3. Packaged the liquids (Hydrogen Peroxide and Betadine) in a zip-loc bag to protect the contents of the kit should they spill or leak. Yes, they are sealed from the factory - but they won’t be after the first time that you use them.

I still need to:

4. Finish filing the attic lids in the rest of the Systainers. This will take a few hours by itself.

5. Print out the Contents List for the kit and place it in a sheet protector. I ran out of these so I will have to run in to the office supply store tomorrow and pick up some more.

6. Assemble the first aid contents into the systainers.

7. Carefully pack each systainer into a box suitable for shipping.

8. Print out shipping labels and attach them to the shipping boxes.

9. Load the packages in the Suburban and drop them off at FedEx.

I have some personal stuff I have to deal with tomorrow (Sunday) but I will be back at it on Monday. I will, of course, post here when the first shipment goes out so you can plan for when you might see it.

It's 1 AM - do you know where your second run First Aid Systainer is?

Here's a hint:

[attachthumb=1]

Thanks to a LOT of help from Mrs. WOW, we just completed a MARATHON session (two days worth) of packing, boxing up, and applying shipping labels to ALMOST ALL of the second run First Aid Systainer orders. They will get dropped off at FedEx later today (after we get some sleep!) and will be delivered to everyone next week.

The first 30 (plus) people who ordered will get their kits next week.

If your order was one of the later 'wait list' ones, your First Aid Systainer might take just a few days longer to get to you. There were a couple of minor hitches that held up the last two or three First Aid Systainers - like some instant heat packs that were defective. Replacements are already on the way to me, but it will take a few days for them to get here and for me to get them put into kits, etc.

if you opted to provide me with an email address as requested, you will automatically receive an email from the FedEx system with your tracking number information in it, along with updates should there be any changes or delays. It doesn't get sent until the FedEx system registers the package, so expect it LATE Friday or early Saturday.

Hope you can all stay healthy until the kits get to you. Be careful, OK?

And be on the lookout for a good sized, moderately heavy, brown cardboard box...

[thumbs up]

I almost forgot to mention - I spent much of Monday and Tuesday dealing with a hard drive crash on my laptop. I was able to quickly recover most of my data from backup, but it seems the drive had been quietly failing for quite some time, so the backups of some of my files were corrupted as well.

I have multiple ways to verify who ordered and paid, so I don't believe it affected anything to do with the First Aid Systainer shipments. BUT I admit to being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of emails and PM's that I have regarding them, and it's possible that I missed something. According to my records (and double-checks) every First Aid Systainer ordered before October 1 is shipping today. If you paid for a First Aid Systainer before October 1 and haven't received it by the end of next week, PLEASE contact me so I can track it down or otherwise make it right by you?

I'm pretty sure I didn't lose anybody's order in the crash, but I want you to know that I will take care of a problem should one occur. Thanks for understanding!

WOW,

Thank you (and to Mrs WOW) for building these kits!  I have received my tracking info from FexEx.  Looking forward to the scheduled delivery on Tuesday!

That was fast?!

They claim that they don't notify you until they do the first scan of the package. Guess that's not always true, huh?

No fedex yet but I am sure it will show up soon. I think I was number 3 on the list...

Yep - I remember printing out a shipping label for yours so it won't be long now...
