Post Here about the New Version (Xenforo) of the FOG

So far I am a fan. Speed is the first thing I noticed being much better.
To this point, it takes me almost no time any more to catch up on FOG posts because the load times are so snappy.

The reply features and functions are also top-notch, but I'm sure will eventually lead me to posting something I regret because it was just too easy to post a quippy response compared to the slight lag on the old site that would give me time to second-guess myself.

I don't know if I commented this already, but when looking at the individual forums, can it be set so that the pinned threads are a different color? The way it was on the old forum made it visually easier to know where the new threads were located. @Administrator_MAFA ?

We'll look into this! Seems to be a few posts about not being able to "notice" the pinned posts as easily

Hey guys,
I was uploading a photo today and had converted the 1.9MB image down to 292k but then thought "they said the files sizes can be larger know" and hit the upload for the 1.9MB - AND IT WORKED!!!! Thank you, Sweet Baby Jesus.

I didn't realize how stressful it had been to upload pics to FOG until now.

And then as I was looking at the photo, I noticed other photos I didn't upload - and it turns out that I can scroll through the other photos uploaded to the thread. Damn, that's a nice feature!

What is this reaction score that I keep seeing? I'm totally unfamiliar with this new format.
I'm guessing it's related to the "Like" button that posts have now. I use it sparingly, but I tend to use it in place of a quick "thanks" or "nice!" comment that might otherwise clog up a thread.

@squall_line is correct. If you hover the mouse cursor over the "Like" icon in the lower right corner, you will see several options besides the thumb up. If you click on Like, the default reaction is the thumb up. If you want to apply a different reaction, select it with the mouse. By default, XenForo assigns a score of +1 to the first three and a score of 0 to the second three.

For some reason I was having a hard time deciphering posts and then I figured it out…I think removing these two lines would be HUGE for readability.

I have a lot of experience administrating XenForo-based platforms and was an early adopter with version 1.2. Some aspects of the platform are so embedded in the basic software that it is extremely difficult to remove or change without breaking something else or causing unintentional changes elsewhere. In some cases, changes last only as long as the next incremental update. I would be very surprised if any of the FOG administrators would be tempted to dive into the underlying code to change the templates.

The desktop version doesn't have this layout, so I never considered it.

The lines seem to indicate:
  • long bar with kink: "Arrow" pointing to the poster's name/avatar
  • short bar: separator for the post time from the post itself
  • long bar: separator from the next post
It may be a "dark mode" issue as well; on the Desktop version in Light Mode, the side bar showing the poster's name and avatar have a light grey background. On Dark Mode, the name and avater have the same black background as everything else. This would make the name and avatar blend with the post if the same coloration/theme is used on the mobile version.

Oh I didn't realize there was a light mode. I'll have to check that out. It just defaulted to dark mode and there are white lines everywhere lol. LINES! haha

OH MY GAWD light mode is so much better. Damn. Thanks for the tip.
We have found that if your phone or computer is set to dark mode, it automatically enables dark mode on the forum. We are looking to disable the dark mode so we are not chasing after mutiple templates right now.

Yeah, this is going to be an issue for me too. Maybe there is a alternative RSS link hiding somewhere with all posts?
I did some looking around as it seems to be a topic that has been discussed on the xenforo forums. It requires a plugin to enable the feeds like you are referring to, which is probably not a short-term item for us until we ensure everything else is stable and working properly. (just being honest)

Wonder if you have a way to add a "Mark forums read" button to the bottom of the posts list as well as at the top where it currently resides. Currently both the button and the link in the menu (?) bar require scrolling back up to the top to click.

Also, it would be nice to have a way to increase the number of topics/page and posts/page from the current 20 to a s electable value. I'd like to set it to 50 but I realize others might like it just the way it is. Thanks.

And prior to clicking the Post Reply button I clicked on Preview. It didn't seem to do anything, or I don't know how to find the preview.

And after clicking Mark Forums Read I was reminded of one last request. Is there a way to disable the "Are you sure?" prompt afrter clicking Mark Forums Read?
