Power cords, a gripe that is getting to be obsolete.

Since all of the branding is on the lid, wouldn't someone just need to pop the hinges and swap the lid from the Mafell over to any other T-Loc generation Sys-II?
Fair point - but would you be happy if your new Festool tool was delivered in a plain grey unbranded Systainer so that you had to goof around finding a 'proper' Festool lid for it? And where exactly are you going to source a T-Loc spare-part lid from for your other (now-lidless) Sys2? And how much hassle would that entail? And how much would it cost? And how long would you have to wait for it? In my experience - instant, no-brainer solutions are always the best.
???
1) Buy unbranded Sys2 (easily available in US), swap the lids. Now you have unbranded Sys1 and Mafell Sys2 both with lids.
2) Export another Mafell Sys2 (which is unavailable in US) through a third party.
Which one is cheaper and quicker for someone in US?

Pretty much this.  It may be getting a little harder to get T-loc Systainers over here, but [member=68900]Systainer.Store[/member] is where I got most of mine with the bright blue latch, and I regularly see collections of empties on Marketplace and Craigslist.  I got a bunch of Festool-branded models when the Sys3 came around and Tool Nut was clearing out T-Locs, too.  That was back when they were still FestoolPros.

Absolutely!

For T-Locs I got with tools, all of the "green" was sanded off and I have purchased catches which are same-color as the systainers. This made the Systainers sufficiently "non-gore" so can be used to store stuff in a home. Works a charm with the SO as well.

With SYS3 this gets complicated, those "spaceship ugly" to boot, besides the wrong size. So off they go for sale the moment the tool is removed.

All my "shop/tool" systainers are TANOS in the "anthracit" color. Does not invite "tool collectors" and looks much better when not 100% pristine as well. Then there is a big black marking on them (e.g. "TSC") to identify what is in them. The only non-anthracit systainer-ish thing is the CT-VA. But that too has an anthracit catch swapped. Heh.

You are welcome to call me crazy, but I hate the "LEGO Dupplo" style colored boxes in a shop with a passion. It is just plain fugly to me.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] Mafell supply empty Systainers #1 through #4 over here as an accessory. Proper T-Locs, too. None of this new-fangled Sys3 nonsense. Hit me up by PM if you'd like me to fix you up with one of my near-legendary FOG member Transatlantic grey imports. [member=58857]Crazyraceguy[/member] will vouch for the flawless efficiency of my personal service  [big grin]

Thanks for the offer Kevin [member=75780]woodbutcherbower[/member] , that was very nice. However, after going downstairs and noticing an orphaned T-Loc II, I decided to follow the [member=75217]squall_line[/member] suggestion and swap covers. Nice...it's beyond me why I never thought of that before.  [eek]

With the original Systainer, it was filled completely and stuff overflowed the edges/lips, especially the cord. It was always a struggle to push everything inside while slowly closing the cover. Meanwhile, while pushing the cord inside on the RH side, the cord was being pushed out on the LH side.

Notice now, how everything is below the lip, tons of room and I now just coil the cord and close...pretty sweet.
