Hello you all.

Looking in to order a Carvex. So was going to get the barrel grip, as I do a lot of upside down cuts. I always like to keep one finger on the trigger then I do the cut. Just for safety. And a D-handle never really worked out for me doing this type of cuts.

But then I looked closer at the D-handle it looks like it have two on/off switches. One in the handle and one as the barrel grip has. So it looks like you got the option to hold the saw barrel grip style and keep you finger on the on/off switch.

Can someone please clarified how this switches/triggers work? Or is the swtch just for the light/strobe?

Thanks in advance.

Regards Woodkrafts

Ps. If someone from Toolnut read this. I think you got an error in the tool name headline. The 'B' is in the wrong place, if you compare with the tool.

There is a switch on both sides of the body for left or right handers . they are on/ off only , the switch on the handle is variable speed. When you turn it upside down the light switches off automatically.

Thanks Dave.
So I can use the D-handle to make safe upside down cuts. Think I order a D-handle. Like the extra support a D-handle gives to the motor body and doing cuts form the top. Like start a cut from a drilled hole in a bulkhead or counter top. Then you don't have easy execs to the under side. Have to watch out for those screws dhoo.

i have a carvex cordless and a trion corded, both barrel grip.  i prefer that because i think the hand control is better closer to the cutting surface.  even upside down, i'm putting the pressure into the machine so that feels more comfortable and secure to me.  i also like that the lower overall height can get you into tighter areas.  personal preference i guess; it's good that they offer both.  but i have to say that the carvex switch is getting some getting used to, especially because i switch between the two models frequently on a project.  i guess it's because of the different location and it's that push on, push again off.  i guess i'll get used to it before too long, because i really like all the other features so it's starting to take over the trion in frequency of use.

The main reason I bought the top grip over the other models on the market was because of that feature. I have arthritis and nerve damage that affects my grip and I have dropped more crap than I care to tell. I found that with the  way this tool is designed I can still hold the tool even when I have a spasm and I still have the top handle for over the top of the work piece. I am really pleased with this saw.

My preference is the D handle. You have the best of both and it is shorter so you can get into tighter areas. The switch on the top will do what you ask but the thumb switch is the one you will use once you own one. I spent 20 years using the standard jigsaw on/off switch but now I have the carvex I'll never go back to the standard switch. Go cordless as well. It feels like the same power

Thanks for your input and sheering your experience.
Cordless? If I had the 18v drill it's a no-brainer. But I don't. If you hookup your vac you still are limited by the hose.
So maybe next time..

I'm also looking to splurge some cash on a carvex. And right now axminster carries the d handle corded set for under 365gbp. That's a steal ;)
